Fuel for Thought
Your questions answered, part 1
I recieved a few questions on my blog dierectly, but most of them were by email so here are your answers.
Do we read? Yes. Nick reads more than I do. I get bored extremely easy. Most books to me are way too predictable. I actually just bought him a color nook yesterday as an early birthday present.
Do we have XM? We do have Sirius. Most of the time its tuned to The Highway, Octane, and 90's on 9. Also I have about 6 GB of music on my phone that I plug into the cd player and listen to quite often. All types of music.
What kind of gps do you use? We have a Rand McNally 500. I like it, but she has a serious stuttering problem upon start up.
Do we have a fridge or cooler? We have a cooler that fits between the seats so while driving we can reach over and grab a cold drink or a snack. We also have a small plastic tote thhe size of a shoe box up front that containts snacks such as granola bars and nuts. We have gone through about 4 coolers finding the one that was the right size for us.
How often do you wash and wax your van? We try to wash it weekly. We wax and clay bar it 2-3 times a year.
What kind of wax products do you use? We use Mothers claybar kits, Meguiars cleaner wax, Lucas Slickmist
What kind of tires do you have, and what is your usual mileage on them? We have Michelin LTXMS. We usually get about 160k out of a set of them.
Where would you be if you weren't in expediting? To be honest, I dont really know.
What are your dreams? I would really love to have a small bakery once we are off the road.
What do you miss about home the most being out here? I miss cooking. I love it, and a regular bathroom lol
If you could have anything what would it be? A house and kids.
What are your hobbies while on the road? Taking pictures of things, exploring new places.
What are your other hobbies? I used to make a lot of beaded jewelry, but it took up to much space in here. I like to paint and make random collages using magazines and lots of glitter.
Where is your favorite place to drive? I like the south west. Its quiet and seems slow paced compared to city life.
What are some of the favorite places that you have been to? I love St. Augustine, FL., Redington Beach, FL. I liked Los Angeles, Tucson AZ 6th street shops. I like coming into Cinci from the south on 75, I think that its beautiful at night. I also like driving through downtown Atlanta at night.
What is the one thing you don't like about expediting? It is hard to have a normal social life and have learned who my real friends are.
What is something that you struggle with personally? Accepting myself physically.
Why did you leave your previous carrier for Load 1? Our business plans were going in slightly different directions. We were happy while we were there, just as we are happy now. Not every carrier fits every person.
What are your dislikes about Load 1? To be honest I haven't really found much that I disklike, and the things that I do are personal and has nothing to do with the company itself.
What is the strangest thing that you have carried? Can't really think of one off the top of my head. Maybe the dental chair to a dental convention in New Orleans.
What is the scariest place that you have delivered to? Either the C.D.C. or a power plant in VA that was full of cars, no security, and you couldnt find a single person there. It was eerie.
Where is one of the coolest places that you have been to? We carried a transformer from IL, down to Orlando FL. It was going to be part of the Harry Potter ride. We got a behind the scenes tour of it before it was even open to the public.
