The Weekend Report

Expedite Expo 2013.   I arrived at the Expo Friday night as the last events of the day were winding down. My July had been on the weak side, so I did the expedite gamble and stayed in service. Fortunately I stayed on my work schedule and had taken my expediters nap in the afternoon. An hour after arriving in Wilmington, I got a load that picked up in Dayton at 0400. I ended up getting less than two hours of sleep, because of a delay in the customer sending over the address for the pick up location. The load was a short one and should have allowed me to return to the Expo before noon on Saturday, but the freight loaded late. I was driving out of the shipper’s lot ten minutes before my scheduled delivery time which was three hours away. I made it back to Wilmington after the booths were taken down and half the people I know had already departed. It was still a nice visit with the people who stayed for the cookout. Plus, I matched a couple new faces with names.

A new sewing machine.   I made my first ebay purchase from an individual seller and picked up the sewing machine from Louisville on my way to the Expo. The machine is a forty year old Kenmore. It’s from the era when sewing machines were all metal and didn’t wear out. I picked this machine, because the family already has the exact same model. I figured that if the machine didn’t work properly or broke down I could still use it for spare parts.
