Spring Time!

Man, am I enjoying this weather! It is so nice to be able to drive with the window down, and sleep without idling!  The trees and flowers are budding, the grass is getting greener every day, and the mud is drying up! I just may start singing! OK.. maybe not, that lady is looking at me funny LOL.

It's been a decent few days since I posted.  After ending up in Ohio Thursday night, I went home, arriving about 2 am and grabbed some sleep. The next morning, I accepted a short run to Michigan, and when I got the run info, discovered it was transferring to someone else who was taking it to Canada. Well, not wanting to miss out on double the miles, double the pay :-) , I contacted dispatch to find out what was the deal. They showed me unable to complete the run... I was ineligible. Well, I knew I was, but after a quick investigation, the prob was discovered. As I've mentioned before, FedEx will only dispatch a van driver 700 miles without taking a legal break. (Yes, I know the DOT doesn't require it, but it's FedEx Saftey requirement, and quite honestly.. usually 700 is plenty for me!) When the dispatcher originally set up the run, my break wasn't up, so I only had 300 miles left to drive...  but by the time it actually was picking up... my break was over, and I could take the whole run.  So, I delivered a very light, well paying load up near Toronto, and came back down to the US to sleep.

After getting up, I headed back down to Ohio because I had some maintenance scheduled for Saturday afternoon.  I then accepted a run for Monday morning... which of course cancelled later that night (I am still the King of dry runs!)  That left me sitting with dry run or <75 status... so I figured it would work out.  Sure enough, I got an offer Monday afternoon for a good paying run going to Maryland, delivering this morning. It was another transfer load, picking up from a driver who didn't have enough hours to deliver it... so we met and transferred the load to my van, and I delivered it early this morn. So, now it's naptime at a Walmart in Maryland!
