Fuel for Thought
Snowy Weekend!
Last week ended up with a couple really good runs, and then of course came the big snow that everyone knows about. After my run to Albany, NY, I got some rest and accepted a short run that required I run over to Syracuse, NY to pick it up. I got there, and wouldn't ya know.. another dry run! Miscommunication from the customer end apparently.. the pick up was ordered based on when freight was to arrive at the airport... well, when the plane landed, their freight wasn't there.. it hadn't cleared customs in time to get on the plane... and somehow that didn't get communicated on down the line.
Well, I found a truckstop, and went back to sleep. Then, I got a good two drop run picking up 9 miles away, and going down to Virginia Beach, VA for Thurs morn delivery. I had a nice overnight run, low traffic... late night by the time I passed around the DC outerbelt. I made both drops early in the morn, then found a Walmart close by to do some shopping, and get some rest. During this time, I hadn't had a tv on, or been online.. so I was quite shocked after 2 or 3 days of running to hear a huge storm was heading my way LOL. After checking out the weather forcast, and discovering estimates of over two feet for the area I was in, I decided it was time to get out of there. So, I went ahead and slept, then left Thurs night, arriving back home Friday morn. After napping, I spent Friday running errands, getting tags, and my license renewed. Yep, that time of year! Today is actually my 44th birthday... gettin older LOL. I won't be running most of this week. I'll be spending a couple days at the FedEx CC headquarters in meetings. I leave tomorrow afternoon, so I went ahead and went out of service so I wouldn't take a chance on being far away when time to head up.
