Preemptive Work

The van is approaching 500,000 miles. Most Sprinter drivers I know had to replace their transmission between 350,000-480,000 miles. Team Jenemy made it just past 512,000. We’re in the slow season for freight, and I wanted to replace the transmission on my own terms. I only heard good reviews of  Silver Star Transmission, so I came up with a plan to go to the transmission. In mid-February I contacted Susan at Silver Star to order a transmission for the first week in April. They don’t need that kind of lead time, since they have transmissions ready to go. I then got on the calendar at Max Baker’s American Transmission for the installation. Monday of last week I confirmed my appointment with Max and called Susan to firm up the order. Silver Star delivered the transmission and torque converter to Max’s on Wednesday, and I arrived later that evening, so everything could come together Thursday morning. By 4:30 PM Thursday, Max was test driving the van. Amazon.com couldn’t have made a transaction so easy and smooth. Both Silver Star Transmission and American Transmission get two thumbs up. And the van is running smoooth.
