A couple months ago a forklift driver used this knot to secure a strap for sliding a pallet to the back of the van. It looked like he hadn’t ever tied the knot before and was going by something he had only seen or read about, but it worked.  I don’t like to publish ideas without my own proof test, so I sat on the idea. Yesterday I had my chance to try the knot for myself. The forklift driver had never unloaded a van before, so she really didn’t know what I was doing. I could have pulled the pallet to the back of the van without the forklift, but I told her I was going to show her how to retrieve the forward pallets from a van. I wrapped the strap around the top of the pallet guard on the forklift, and the knot worked. It cinches down on itself when under tension, and it only needs pressure taken off the strap and a shake to loosen.
