Leisurely Roll

Third five hundred mile run for the week. The week covering an area from Michigan, southern Indiana to Syracuse, New York. This one is at a leisurely pace. Five hundred miles picked up on Friday for a Monday delivery.

The leisurely pace will give me a chance to do laundry tomorrow without having to worry about pulling a half finished load out of a machine. I did have to do that before. I couldn’t pick up for three hours, and luck would have it that there was a very nice laundromat next door to the shipper. I started a load of laundry and was napping, because it was going to be an all nighter. Dispatch called with a change. New load picking up one hundred miles away. Get rolling, it’s hot. I pulled my sopping wet laundry out of the machine and rolled to pick up. I arrived fifteen minutes early. I was greeted by a half hour of confusion, because there was no more outgoing freight for the night. The other Panther van that I waved at on the final leg coming off the interstate had the load. Dispatch had sent two vans to cover the load. But no problem, dispatch had another hot load one hundred miles away (next to a very nice laundromat). I told dispatch…to find another van.

I’m looking forward to laundry tomorrow. The laundromat is one of only two laundromats I’ve ever used that leaves clothes smelling like home washed laundry.
