Fuel for Thought
Just one of those days
We have been out of service most of the past week due to family medical emergencies, and events for this weekend. We headed down to Columbus from Michigan Thursday night. We got up early Friday morning to go take showers and then head off to the dealership to get the van worked on. We hopped out still half asleep and headed inside. We took seprate showers to speed things along so we wouldn't be late for our service appointment. While in the shower someone kept banging my door and messing with the handle. When we headed out to the van I noticed a very large pile of feces just outside the passenger side door, that looked like it had recently been stepped in. I turned around and asked Nick if he stepped in it. He hadn't even noticed it, until he looked down, and yes it was all over his shoe. After changing shoes and isolating the poo shoes we headed to the dealership.
When we arrived the assistant service manager, who was our service writer informs us that they didn't order the wheel bearing that we wanted replaced "because we don't let our customer's diagnose their vehicles." He then wanted to know how long we could leave the van there because it would be a few days to get the parts. Then he looks at a few more things and says "Oh by the way the tech is at the hospital his wife is in labor so he won't be in for a while so it wouldnt get done today anyway." I understand that there is no controlling when someone has a baby, thats fine, but if I call you a week ahead of time to tell you I want the wheel bearing changed, drive to Columbus from Detroit just to have the service done, and then treat us like that... Sad thing as that this was the first Mercedes dealership we had gone to and had the WORST service ever.
After leaving the dealership we decided to park and go back to bed for a few hours and try the day over again. We couldn't check into our hotel room until 3 p.m. anyway, so why not take a break. We got up and went to lunch then to the hotel to check in. Luckily that went smoothly and we were relaxing in our nice room. I fell asleep watching some show Nick was watching, and awoke to loud thunder. We watched it rain for a while and decided we were going to head down the the restaurant and get an appetizer before coming back up and reheating our lunch. Nick kind of procrastinated about getting out of bed, I was started to be annoyed with him, and then the power went out. I was expecting for it to come back on, Nope, blackness. We wandered down the stairs to the restaurant area to watch all of the people in panic thinking it was the end of the world. The next thing we know a fire truck pulls up outside. Someone was stuck in the elevator between floors 3 and 2. Had Nick not taken his time getting out of bed, that would have been us.
We are up and getting ready to head to the Hell City Tattoo Convention here in Columbus, OH. Definately hoping that today is much better than yesterday!
