Getting healthy
Nick and I have been discussing some of our goals that we are setting for the year and one of them is going to be working towards being healthier. One of the ways that we are going to be doing that is changing the way that we eat. By doing this we are hoping to lose some weight, but also become healthier. Even if it only 20 pounds, it is going to make an impact on our health. There are so many different studies out there suggesting certain diets and such, but what did people do before there were all of these diet fads? Change eating habits and exercise.
It is not going to be as easy as it sounds that is for sure, since we eat most of our meals out, but we will just have to make better decisions. The reason we eat out is that we do not want the added weight of extra batteries, refridgerator, or microwave in our vehichle. Not only will it take away from the weight that we can haul, it will also reduce the space that we have. For solo drivers it is much easier to have these ammenities. If we were in a straight tuck it would be easier as well. Nick has also quit drinking pop. He has been pop free for over 2 months now. Myself on the otherhand, still drink one at night while I am driving. I am going to have to say the hardest thing for me to give up is going to be those danged Reeses holiday shaped peanut butter cups :/
Another thing that we will do is exercise. Whether it be briskly walking a mall, or a truck stop parking lot. Getting out on the weekends to walk flea markets or parks. We both have recently bought comfortable athletic shoes that will help with this. We do walk a lot now, but not at a brisk enough pace to get our heartrates up and sweat a bit.
It isn't going to be easy, but I have to remind myself that the reward is going to be worth it. Who knows Nick may have to buy me all new clothes for our next cruise!
