Day one, What a mess
Our boarding passes said that we could be in port at 12 noon, ande could not be there any later than 2:30 p.m. as we were set to sail at 4:30. When we go to the port around 12:30 or so, we were turned around and told that due to the fog that morning the ship had been delayed and that we could not start boarding procedures until after 2:00. Our friend took us back to his apartment, and we sat there waiting. When we returned at the given time it was a MESS. It took us over an hour to get in and get dropped off at the "loading" area.
Once we were inside it was like a pen of angry bulls waiting to be slaughtered. Loud, hot, and crowded. People bumping you every which way with luggage, and screaming annoying teenagers. You go through the first of a series of check points to make sure that you are in the right place. Then it is was on to wait in line even longer, to have your baggage screened. Then once that is done, wait in another line to get "checked in". Finally it was time to board the ship.
We went straight to our room, and surprisingly our luggage was already there. We met our room steward "Cecil". We didnt end up being very fond of him though, which will be made aparent why in the next few writings.
I had our cabin decorated for our "Honeymoon" just so it would finally sink in. When we arrived there was also a gift basket with champagne, the bottle of Malibu rum we had ordered on, and it was added to by the two bottles of wine we carried on. It looked like we were going to be quite set for trip.
(Us while exploring)
Due to the delay we didnt end up sailing until 8:30 p.m. It made it much harder to attend all of the events that had been scrambled into a few hours. We headed up to the top deck to watch us sail under the Dames Point Bridge, and out into the open water. (Going under the bridge)
It was a bit hard to get used to being moving at first, but due to popular suggestions we started taking a motion sickness medication a few days prior to sailing. After leaving port we headed to dinner since we had the late night seating. This is where we learned that the huge table for 10, would be occupied by only us. On the plus side it meant that we had phenomenal service from Jorge and Martin!
For the rest of the evening we wandered around the ship checking new things out.
