Fuel for Thought
Back where I belong!
After a few weeks of running around the northern areas, Chicago, Toronto Canada, etc... I was feeling pretty lost in all the flat land. I stayed busy up there, but man the drive is boring! I finally got a nice run down into the Carolinas, delivering this morning. It was nice to drive in the mountains, breath the mountain air, and just see some variety in scenery. I grew up in Ohio, but spent a lot of time in Kentucky, West Virginia, etc. My dad's family is from Virginia also, so coming down thru those roads just feels like going home.
This load picked up in Parkersburg, WV, and was a transfer load... where I met another driver. We met at the old Liberty Truckstop.. which is one of the older truckstops around, but still nice. You always know when you're getting close, because the fuel desk girl is usually on the CB welcoming each driver as they pull into the lot, and then saying "Have a nice day driver!" as trucks leave the lot. Several truckstops down south still talk on the radio, advertising specials, etc.. but they're the only one I know who welcome you, and say goodbye! Also, they're a full service truckstop... they pump the fuel at no extra cost.. wouldn't it be nice if regular gas stations did that?
I slept today, got rested back up, and now sitting near Ashville, NC. I've had a couple offers, but no winners... I'm first in line here, but there are several vans sitting down at Greenville, which is only about an hour away.. so they get considered for loads here too.... since they've been waiting longer. Hopefully be runnin in the morn.
