Fuel for Thought
Another Q&A Session
Since the workshop in Knoxville, and MATS, I have been asked many questions and I would like to share some of them with you.
1. What made you choose the carrier that you are with now?
Research, research, research. We had personal reasons why we switched as well, but there was a lot of research involved before we made the decision. Like with initially shoosing your carrier you need to find out what carrier offers the things that you are looking for.
2. Why do you spend so much time working on your van, its just a van?
The same reason you clean your home. It is where we spend our time, it is our home away from home, not just a van. We like it to be comfortable. We also need it to be presentable, as it an extension of us that customers see.
3. How much time do you spend working on our van?
Typically every year we clay bar, cleaner wax, scratch/swirl x, and wax it at least twice. In the spring/early summer, and in the fall/early winter. Due to the care of it we feel that it has help elude some of the rust that the Sprinter's develope.
4. Where did you learn to do the body work/painting that you have done?
UM, the internet I guess. I have never really learned it anywhere, just did it. I did look up a few tips on how to do things.
5. Do you have any issues with changing climates?
I do have allergies. Sometimes they are worse when we have drastic changes in climate, such as 30-40* temperature differences. The worse change was January 2010. When we left Los Angeles is was about 75*, when we arrived in Indiana, it was -27*!!! 100 * in two days is CRAZY!
6. Is there anything that you collect?
All kinds of random things. We like cultural and historical items. Nick collects Harley shirts, and I have a few. We also collect vintage items, that one day we will decorate our home with.
7. What are some of the things that you do while you are sitting?
We like to visit flea markets. It gives us a chance to get out of the van and walk around. Who knows what kind of treasures you may find. Nick watches a lot of movies and tv shows on his phone through Netflix. We like to go to the gun range as well.
8. Where do you plan on settling down at?
Probably up north somewhere. We really like the area that I am from.
9. Where is Nick from? It had been said that he came to the states when he was a child.
He is from a small town in Romania, he came here when he was 9 years old.
10. At MATS you said that you had a broken tailbone, how did you break it and how is it doing?
I had left my shower shoes on the cruise ship on accident, so I had to wear Nicks. He wears a size 15 and I am only a 7 so they were quite large. I stepped out of the shower and the back of the shoe was still on the ledge and I slipped and fell. It is doing alright, healing slowly.
11. Where do you store all of your clothes in the van and what do you typically carry with you?
We actually carry all seasons worth of clothing with us at a time. We have two totes under our bed. The smaller one has the "off season" clothing in it, as well as our bathing suits. The larger of the totes has current season clothing in it. It is about a week and a half worth of clothes. We have a small three drawer plastic dresser in which we keep undergarments, socks, and undershirts in, that is behind the drivers seat. It also doubles as our night stand.
12. You mentioned in a previous blog that you both were going to be working on weightloss, how is that going?
We started the first week of February. Currently I am down about 30 pounds, and Nick is down about the same.
That is all for now. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!
