Alabama, and Tennesee...

As I posted in my last blog, I had delivered in Memphis, then went up to Jackson for layover.  Next morning I was woke up with a good run down to Gadsden, AL.. another light load, which again, made for a ruff ride on bumpy loads, but great fuel mileage. I delivered it without incident, then layed over in Georgia, just South of the Tennesee line. I was hoping to get a run up towards the Knoxville area, as there was an Expediter's workshop put on by Expediters Online, and I knew several people I know would be there. Well, the Lord spoils us now and then, and I got a short run up into Tennesee that would put me within reasonable driving distance from Knoxville.  Part of my route took me over Monteagle, the famous mountain featured in many songs.. including the old 'Smokey and the Bandit" movies!

I really enjoy driving in the mountains.  I'd much rather see mountains and trees than big city buildings. Don't get me wrong, the city lights are still cool to see at night... I like seeing Nashville, Chicago, and of course my fav Columbus lit up, but it's nothing like seeing God's handiwork!

I did make it to the workshop, unfortunately, I was tired and didn't stay too long.. but they had a good turnout, and I was able to see some friends.  Friday morn I woke up at the T/A truckstop in Knoxville, and decided I needed some 'church time'..  I walked over to the Transport for Christ mobile chapel, and there met Chaplain Paul. We had a couple hourse of great conversation, Bible Study, and prayer.  I really enjoyed the time spent with him. We come from different churches, and backgrounds, but it was a breath of fresh air.  I really would recommend stopping by one of their chapels if you are near one. They are non-denominational, and provide a 'church away from church' for many drivers each week.

While I was there, our Safety Liason Terry O'Connell came by, I went to have lunch with him, and Linda and Bob of Team Caffee (also bloggers here).  While dining, I received and accepted an offer for a good run delivering in Chicago Monday morning.  So, I got loaded, was able to come home for the weekend, and I'll be heading out shortly... but wouldn't ya know it... they say Chicago is getting a bunch of snow? AGGhh.. come on Spring!
