Fuel for Thought
A First
I think this was a personal first. I’ve been racking my brain since last night, and I can’t remember a time when a delivery location was set up so properly for receiving trucks. From the start the consignee was helping me out—the company name I received in my load plan matched the name that the shipper used for them. Such a simple concept can cut down on so much confusion, but the best part was at the delivery. On the street at the first place that I encountered the company’s property, there was a LIGHTED sign with the proper company name and an arrow towards shipping and receiving. There was a similarly lit sign at every entrance and corner showing the way to the truck entrance. And the company’s street address was for the truck entrance not the flagpole on another street on the far side of the property. After all the grumbling I do to myself, it is nice to see that a company can figure it out. And it does have a payback. Traffic flow around the facility should be safer, and who wants a bunch of drivers getting out of their trucks already grumbling?
