Fuel for Thought
3 days away
We returned from the truck show Sunday afternoon and unloaded on Monday. We were notified that my aunt was in the hospital and it was not looking good. Her journey began back in December when she had a kidney removed and found out that she had kidney cancer. Saturday she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. They found that the cancer had spread. When Nick and I arrived Monday afternoon she was in the I.C.U. Tuesday, she was taken back to the oncology floor to be made comfortable, to spend her last few days.
Wednesday we made the decision, that due to being off the previous week, that he was going to go back in service, while I stayed at the hospital with my parents. Wednesday night was very hard for me. It was the first night in four years we spent apart. Not only was it hard being away from him, and knowing that he was out there on his own. It was a night time run, and that is when I typically drive. I was so worried. I know that he did it all of the time when he was solo, but I guess worrying is what wives do.
Thursday morning I talked to him as soon as he got up. It had been a hard night for the both of us. Thursday afternoon my aunt passed away, and he started working to get a load headed home so he could be here with my family and I. He should be delivering in Michigan in the morning, and heading towards Lansing. I can't wait to see him again, and I can assure you that he will not be going out solo again for a long time!
