18,500,000,000 would of paid 616.666.6 people 30,000 dollars for the year . And to think only one guy can make 18,500,000,000 while 616,666 went with out food and housing some where in the USA

Technically, Carlos Slim Helu (the richest man in the world) didn't earn that as cash, it's the increase in the value of his portfolio... so it takes into account stock values rising, etc... also he is a Mexican, so it's even worse when you compare him to his fellow countrymen... Oh, and his portfolio is now worth 74 billion as of this month... a 20.5 billion increase from the end of 2010...

I agree. I have no problem with rich people. People make different choices in their lives...if you want to sacrifice, work long hours, then of course, sometimes hard work pays off and some people gain great financial success, and that's fine. Some of it is luck...a particular talent, or perfect timing. Sometimes it involves research and entrepreneurship and a lot of risk! I totally give kudos to those who make it to the top financially. I guess it boils down to your personal version of success, be it financial, social, family, education or some combination thereof.

It's the cheating, exploiting and oppression of employees, the evasion and dodging of responsibilities to your country of business, the unsatisfiable greed...that's what gets to me. I will never be rich. I am not willing to take that much time away from my family. Work hard enough to be comfortable? Yes. Hard enough to be uber-wealthy, no. It's not a priority for me. But I have no problem with people who make those choices...it's more of what they do and how they do it to get and stay there!

When you get the time to do the math, please let us know what Señor Helu is worth in pesos. How about euros?

In all honesty, no one of wealth has a responsibility to their country.

explain . so once they make their money by the laws of their country. they dont need to follow those laws anymore that helped them to make the money
