We run a lot of military freight in my industry and it has been booming, we get all these great loads going to these new camps they are building. In reality it has actually been a little slow on military freight this year.

1. Stacks of humvee windows to Aberdeen to get shot.
2. Crate of flapper on slings, whatever that is.
3. Helicopter fuel tank. Empty.
4. And several HEAVY crates between bases with no description of contents.

One of the #4 loads was from Tulsa to Eglin and I'd swear I was followed at a distance the whole way. About every 150-200 miles I picked up a new tail with tinted windows.
Maybe I'm paranoid but wouldn't they just tell me if I was being escorted?

It's not uncommon if you run military or in some cases expensive electronics. They never want the driver to know they're under surveillance because one never knows if the driver is corrupt and part of a group plotting to steal the freight. And usually they'll follow in stretches of 150-200 miles then switch.

I have heard the same story at the truck stops several times. I wouldn't be surprised if they follow certain loads just to set people up.
