What’s the difference?

I am reading about the upcoming Islamic events to hit our shores.

The one that hits me as something that we should all be complaining about is the visit of former Iranian leader, President Mohammad Khatami at Harvard to speak about Ethics of Tolerance in the Age of Violence. The idiotic idea that this person who has funded our enemies, who helped promote terrorism, who led a country that gives little rights to it's citizens and proved that the country is intolerant to other religions, should be allowed to step in our country is just unfathomable. To add to this insult, his speech comes on the eve of the 9/11 anniversary, UNREAL.

The next event is the visit of the present president of Iran to the UN – who also has come out and said that they want to destroy anyone who don’t agree with him. We should not allow this to happen also. We have in the past refused entry to leaders of countries and terrorist organizations.

By allowing these things to happen, we are p*ssing on the 9/11 victims and every service man/women who we lost fighting terrorism graves. By tolerating people who arranged this does pretty much the same thing. As for Harvard, I think it is time to cut the school off from all public funds.

So what's the difference between these two and Hitler? Not much that I can see except that Hitler had fewer friends in our country. So I feel that if this was 1939, actually September 8, 1939, we should invite Hitler to come and speak about tolerance and peace at a Synagogue .....why not?

Talk about your oxymorons! I'm surprised the word tolerence would even be associated with someone from the Middle East. Their version of tolerence is everyone accepting their beliefs. When non-muslim women can walk around without a berka, then maybe we can start thinking about tolerence.

It's too bad one of the 9/11 guys wasn't nearsighted and hit the U.N. building instead of one of the towers. The U.N. is what really needs removed from our country.

I've got one that puts this bit of yellow journalism in persepective.
W is now hitting pavement to try and build up Republican support for his buddies(most of whom don't want him in their state)by calling himself, quote"The Commandeer and Educator"
Talk about your "oximoron".
Free speech is something we have been fighting for (in the real wars)since the birth of our nation. No one is exempt Greg.Once we start exempting people, based on religion or country of origin,we might as well start flying the swaztika.
Have a good weekend, and try not to hate.

Freedom of speech is for OUR citizens to be protected from OUR government imposing limits on that speech. I didn't read anywhere that someone from another country can come here and spew their filth, and be protected.

Well like T-hawk said we are not talking about a citizen of this country; we are talking about an enemy of this country. To be fair, we must afford Hitler the same respect and access to the national cathedral, to Chicago and Harvard. Realistically speaking, it is obvious that the hatred for Hitler is much greater than the hatred for the terrorist who have killed our citizens because of the twisted logic of the left in this country. We barred Arafat from coming to the UN, why not the Iranian leaders? We should have barred Mandela because he was the same as Arafat but didn’t.

I was saving this for another time but I got to say something that counters your comments - we are flying a new form of the swaztika, the DMC A**. Heil Pelosi! Heil Ried! Sieg Heil!

This weekend ABC was to run the Path to 9/11, a docudrama based on the 9/11 report - not 100% factual, there is artistic license taken with the events on the behalf of the writer who is expressing his thoughts and feelings through this movie. It is for all intent supposed to be a good made for TV movie and I recommend everyone to watch it not for the political content but to remember what happened.

In the past week, I received not one, not two but FIVE emails from the DMC, all demanding I mobilize to put a stop to this “A Despicable, Irresponsible Fraud†or as another email put it “The 9/11 Propaganda Film†from airing. The recommedations were to scream about how unfair this is and how we must not allow this type of movie to air.

Fraud? Propaganda? If this docudrama or made for TV movie is anything close to a fraud or propaganda, than the 9/11 commission and the few victims of 9/11 families organization is also a fraud and the report is propaganda.

But the effects of this campaign of censorship also include our childern. Scholastic (the company that does lesson plans and provides material for teachers who should create it themselves) originally had “created a discussion guide for teachers to use to encourage students and their families to watch this irresponsible fraud and then discuss it in school.†But now “has pulled teaching materials off its website and has scrambled to adopt a plan to help teachers show students "the differences between factual reporting and a dramatization," but is still encouraging teachers to show their students this propaganda.†So much for showing kids tolerance, freedom of speech and expression in action.

Disney owns ABC and ABC has a habit of being a liberal news source – almost worked for one of their affiliates and went through the indoctrination process before I realized the brainwashing that was happening – BUT ABC did produce something that many say will help us remember 9/11 and shed some light on matters that were in the shadows.

Well anyway this is censorship, a clear restriction for no reason what so ever of freedom of speech and expression. We should have demanded the same thing about Michael Moore and his propaganda films. The great senator Stabenow put her signature on a letter threatening Disney, reminding them of the Communication Act of 1934 and pretty much said if they air this and the Dems get in power, they will have a very hard time with their licensing renewals. I wrote to her telling her I will make sure not one vote from my family or freinds will go to her, which was pretty easy anyway - shes an idiot.

Sorry TallCal, you can say what you want but this is a clear indication of the problems we will have if they get the house, their concern is with HATE of the president and the people who support him, with subjugating people and limiting our rights and freedoms by their standards – the republicans have not approached this at all. We will go back to the Clinton era of not being able to criticize the Clintons or their cohorts, where the IRS and the FBI were used to harass people for speaking their mind. We will have an ineffective congress that is so concern with blocking the president and our country’s needs because of HATE that we will lose the war and the terrorist will strike again killing more people.

The problems I see are a double standard with the liberals and the freedoms we have, or supposed to have. For example it is all right for a student to say something that is truly considered harmful speech by calling for the death of the president but have a student say they support the military and my God they are castigated among their peers so bad they leave the school.

You know TallCal, thinking about this entire ABC thing, I want to know why is it the Dems can put so much effort into complaining about a made for TV movie and refuse to push to find the persons who are putting our country in harms way by leaking information. I guess self-serving problems can be forgotten even at the expense of our country.

You also have a good and safe weekend.

Constitutional rights are rights only to legal U.S. citizens. For anyone else they are privileges that may or may not as well as should or should not be loaned to them on a case by case basis. None of the criminals (illegal = criminal, criminal = illegal) who have invaded our nation have any right to free speech or any other freedom we as citizens have. Nobody, other than a citizen, has a right to set foot in this country. Again, that is a privilege that could but shouldn't always be granted.

Tallcal, I am glad you are still out there, but I don’t think you have studied history much.

See a while ago we fought a war that we didn’t start that ended up toppling another dictator, the one that I mentioned here in this post, Hitler. He declared war on us when the war in Europe was a little over 2 years going. We entered the war with the same fortitude that we had when 9/11 came around. We almost lost that war, coming closer to defeat than most will ever admit or acknowledge. But after almost 42 months of fighting in Europe, the war was over and we sat there without an exit strategy, without a true idea what we really wanted to see Europe look like after all of this fighting and killing. We just had a major shakeup with the death of FDR and Truman was just getting a grip on things when this all took place.

It wasn’t until August of 1945 when decisions were starting to be made, division of Germany, reparations and a lot of other stuff started. From May of 1945 to 1948 everything was in limbo, more problems, more killings with real insurgents ( ex SS not terrorist from other countries like in Iraq) and more meddling by the soviets. There were near breakdowns of Germany, people tend to forget this, and we almost went back to war several times and a lot of troops didn’t come home in 1946 or even 1947 but 1948. In 1948 we had a break down of a lot of stuff due to the start of the cold war. It wasn’t until after the Berlin Airlift that Germany saw what was going to take place in the formation of their government and in May of 1949 Germany had a new government. It took an additional 6 years to end the occupation of Germany by the allies and become a sovereign nation – ten years of occupation.

So TallCal, this process took ten years with a country that held very intelligent people, the Germans – I expect it should have take twice as long but look at the real progress, even though you don’t want to admit to it. Make a comparison of time lines to see. If you want to understand the difficulty of what we face in the middle east, please learn how many of these people think and what their leaders want to see happen. They all want to return back to a pre-ottoman empire state where everyone lives under harsh rules.

We didn’t cause the hate to flourish, what we did is we show them that we are weak by allowing people to openly oppose the administration through the press and in their eyes weakness is something that needs to be destroyed.

Now I don’t expect any intelligent person to think that we should have an exit strategy that is publicized unless they support the terrorist, like the left and people like Carter. Many people don’t know the difference of nation rebuilding and police action or that we need to kill and torture to prevent our lives from being destroyed. By telling or even hinting an exit strategy, we empower them to do what they do best – plan to kill more Americans.

Also I have to add something else. We treated the German POWs like animals. Many died in several camps in Germany and France and no one cared. We didn’t release a lot of them until they were deNAZIfied (yes that is a real word) which took a while.

Now it is fact that the policies of the administration before the present one were to find a way to destroy Saddam and install a new government. I guess no one wants to admit that.

Torture camps, h*ll yes! It is either us or them.

That includes everyone. I exempt no one from my statement. Whether it's the criminals invading primarily from Mexico or the criminals attacking from the middle east or anyone else the answer is the same. Criminal = illegal, illegal = criminal. For those who attack and go to war with the U.S., and I consider the terrorists in that group, we should use every resource and weapon to annihilate them until nothing remains but the lesson for any who would consider repeating their actions.

Greg, Nice try comparing the occupation of Iraq to WWII. This President had the world behind him after 9-11 and he screwed up by invading Iraq (which had nothing to do with 9-11) and not finishing the job in Afganistan. Greg, I'm sure you'll support a draft and maybe you should park the van and head straight to the nearest Army recruiters office (there taking 42 yr olds now).

Another good post Greg.
I wonder if the liberal posters protested our involvement in Bosnia.
We could say that was a Civil War after all they were states of Yugoslovia. Mistakes happen in every conflict. I believe we accidently bombed the Chinese embassey in Serbia.

So I get tired of liberals or left wing complaining that we are accidently killing civlilians in Iraq and they seem to worry about the Sunnis Killing :censoredsign:es who cares.

We should continue our support of the troops and the military strategy. We have overthrown to Governments with less casualities than many battles that happened in WWII. History in 20 plus years will determine if what our Leaders did was the right thing to do. People still debate the dropping of the atomic bomb in Japan was the right thing to do to help end WWII. I think those people are nuts but they do have the right to show there ignorance.

I also agree with LBD on Illegal aliens not having the same rights American citizens have.

I believe McCain is doing what he feels is right when he supported the no torture policy he served his country and endured torture. He supports our general policy in Iraq and he was very vocal for the re-election of George W. Bush.

ACE, Yeah check out what these crazy liberals said about Bosnia.

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is." -- Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

"You can support the troops but not the president." -- Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years." -- Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?" -- Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99

"[The] President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home." -- Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area." -- Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today" -- Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

While I am sorry for what he endured that is no reason to weaken our abilities. If the rest of the world observed the policy I would support it. Since we know we are one of only a few nations who observe Geneva etc. I do not support it. I support a policy of exponential response to any attack. If it costs 1000 lives to take 1 American life perhaps they will reconsider. If not, the cost should go to 2000 for 1, 4000 for 1, and continue to increase until we find that number which is too great a cost even to Islamic fascists.

Ok I got to tell you, that kind of bothers me.

You know there are several things that I don’t get offended by. You did seem to do so with your park the van remark but my passion for my country does allow me to accept stupid remarks, no matter how insulting they are simply because most of us are Americans for America and I realize we are all in it together.

I am 43, not 42.

Would I join? Yes I would but I have health problems that I know I would be rejected in an instant. My application is in with KBR and I also applied through the Iraqi government.

My question is would you?

Would I go? Yes, just like the hundreds of others who will, have and are – if I find something I can do, then I am going. See I am not afraid of what could happen, I am afraid of what will happen if we just give up.

Do I want to see a draft? Yes but not to strengthen the military rather to allow people to find some avenue to a fruitful life. There is a lot to be said for military service and with today’s education system, there is a lot more to be said of helping people become more productive citizens and it is not about carrying a gun and trying to kill someone that I am speaking of.

The last thing is the little comparison that I made was also made by a bunch of people at a few liberal institutes of higher learning; I am not the first to say it. As for a mistake, look Clinton made the policy to destroy Saddam, look at some of the congressional reports for the policy if you don’t believe me. Regardless what Bush did, he did it with the backing of both the Republicans and Democraps and they all were briefed with the same intelligence. Compliment them for their observation of the lunacy with the leadership of the left.

I got more but .....
