What "turns my crank" is that nearly everytime I log on to this forum I see some post from OVM whining about something that is wrong with the way the U.S. does things. I really don't have a problem with that specifically, Benjamin Franklin said there is nothing more american than speaking out against what is wrong with america.I would prefer to hear such speak from an american though. My real problem is that his solutions generally refer to some sort of socialism, i.e. farm supports, etc. The government owes us nothing.
Letzrock, you are right abut him speaking up but I got to tell you I would rather hear from someone not from here pointing out differences and problems then to not hear anything at all. It really does not matter who says what, if you lean toward libertarian, you should welcome the openness, or am I wrong? See Letzrock, We are as complacent people and the one thing I preach so well is involvement. The reason I preach involvement is to change things, not to just vote but to examine what we have and find the negatives to make things better, you agree? Well this is one part of this involvement, even though he is not from here (which is ok) it is good to see someone saying something. I also think that is it good to see the socialist solutions, to open up a conversation to talk about what is wrong with these solutions and to talk about why big government in our society is wrong and damaging.
I stand with you with the premise that the government owes us nothing.
I know Greg likes to believe I am a democrat but as I have often stressed, I lean right far more than I do to the left. If I had to pigeonhole myself I would say I am more of a libertarian. My "guy/gal" as he puts it isn't winning or losing because I haven't made my mind up with who is still in the race.
Sorry about that, I know there are a lot of things you say lean toward the libertarian point of view.

No no no it should be education comes first...theres no future if the young don't get edumacated...
See Canada is going to more to a private market healthcare and it's kinda helping because the ones that can afford it do so, whereas down here more are leaning towards gov funded care from private and it's all messed up. I mean all hese parts A,B,C,D...who the heck can figure it out...
OVM,
The best, absolutely best thing we can do as a country is stand out of the way of education. Get rid of the department of education, break and destroy the teachers union and let the country do best what it has been doing best for other sectors of industry, turn it into a commercial venture. Let the parents decide what and where their kids get educated and how. Let the money follow the kids, not this BS system of forcing the kids go to a school that is in the area without choice. And if you don't think that this can't work, look at universities, they are businesses that are competitive.
The government has taken our rights of education away with the department of education. They have taken over the education of kids by taking the tax money and moving it around. Before the liberal way of education (which by the way is also in the Communist Manifesto like our tax system) we were the best educated and the best technological country in the worlds history. We out designed, out produced and out did everyone but after WW2 that was all lost. It was amazing that we provided war material for 7 countries at the same time fighting a war on two fronts and the average person who graduated high school then knew more than a lot of graduates of college know now.
As for Medicare, social security and welfare, again the best thing to do is to set a date on closure of the system, set up a system where someone like me can take my money and not have the government controlling the economy through throttling of taxes on investments (fair tax). If we change the system, it has to be taken down completely and reworked to fit our new economy, which this system is bringing it down.
I would rather have the fair tax in place and working than to have access to social security and Medicare.
