Or one if you are from Minnesota and no need to bother if you are from MA or CA but worthless Senators aside it is urgent you call and STRONGLY urge them to support the Thune Amendment that will be voted on Wednesday. This amendment would finally allow us to protect ourselves while out in our trucks.

It will also allowed you to safely parked your rig among hundreds of truckers , that by law are to fatigue to operate a rig , yet required by another law to unload , disassemble & stow their toys .
they will do the same , first thing in the morning.
giving a new meaning for defensive parking.
gee's , wonder if Volvo can come up with a bullet prof cab.

OK I don't get this...

First you complain about the feds being big brother, taking our rights away but then you promote their involvement in something that can be used as a stepping stone for further restrictions and regulations at the state level.

Leave the states to decide this.

Ark,
I can not stress this enough, once something like this happens, then it is not going to stop. It is not just about firearms but other things too.

This bill, is not about trucking, it is not about protection of cargo or one's self while on the road, it is about allowing the common citizen who is "qualified" to carry to go across state lines. It removes the rights of the state to regulate what someone can bring into the state. If Michigan wants to have a reciprocating agreement with Ohio, then the process is there for them to pursue getting an agreement in place, the feds need to stay out of the process completely.

You all can't have it both ways, either you want to limit federal powers, or you don't - this is not a gray area.

If this bill specifically stated that under the interstate commerce clause, a person qualified for a concealed weapon permit in one state is allowed in the course of pursuing interstate commerce, allowed to carry a weapon with them regardless what other states laws are, then it would make sense to support the bill. This would remove some of the state's rights but only limits it to what the the Constitution stipulates are the rights of the federal government to act.

Maybe Leo will read behind the bill....instead of the surface to something that fits HIS agenda....He wants us to support something that takes away state rights....something on most issues he is opposed to....

You can't have it both ways Leo....make up your mind....State Rights or Fed Rights?

I received a similar “call to arms” from OOIDA. I have made the calls and expressed my views. However, it is frustrating knowing it will do no good. I call, write and e-mail my Senator’s and my Congressmen on a regular basis. Unfortunately, all three of them always, on every issue, consistently vote in opposition to my views and wishes. All three are whacked out, liberal career politicians who have only one agenda – their own. I never vote for them. Yet another sad state of affairs.

No matter, your carriers would have put rules in place to stop you. But just the thought of people or should I say criminals knowing you were able and may possibly be carrying a weapon would have been enough to make you a little safer.
