My ex-brother in law from NJ had a similar attitude: everybody from south of the Mason-Dixon line was an ignorant, racist redneck. Since all our families were from TN, AL and KY we were expected to ignore his blatant contempt for Italians and Jews, laugh at his non-stop Polish jokes, and go along with his totally uninformed opinions on everything else. Ignorance and bigotry know no boundaries.

In business there is something called the Point Of Profit Maximization. This occurs when marginal revenue = marginal cost. In the case of our government, revenue needs to be increased. raising taxes will help. Everyone needs to pay more.

Some need to pay That do not now no one needs to pay more. Spending needs cut. Even if we doubled taxes we still cannot afford compasion except in the most needy cases. No country has ever survived that or accomplished it.

You want more revenue get the stupid govt out of the way lower tax rates, get rid of all deductions for business and personal , get the regulations like EPA, etc off the back of business, stop the Dems and left from attacking business then you will see the economy start moving and more people working which means more people paying taxes there is your more revenue and revenue is not the problem it is the govt spending too much money they need to reform Social Security, Medicare, get rid of the Education Dept , etc

You have a shrinking tax base with more people pulling from it through entitlements all the way to home mortgages. Cut the crazy spending will net the favorable long term results.
As mentioned, just not enough rich people any more to float the boat.

Spending definitely needs to be cut. Even a 10% cut across the board, including social programs, with a freeze on additional spending would make a huge difference.
