Windows 7 Scanner works fine with windows but when I go to use the software I get a twain error.

What's the scanner, and what's the software and what's the error?
Does it say something like "Twain error - failed to open twain driver"?
More than likely, you can go into the software setting and change it from twain to WIA.
If that doesn't work, uninstall the scanner's drivers, delete the Twain_32 folder, and reinstall the drivers.
