Whats cheap?? I mean you can do it with 1 good marine deep cycle battery a 1500 amp inverter and a good isolator or continous run solenoid....with all the proper wiring you could get by for less then $400 bucks....but if you skimp on any of them, you will pay for it in short order.....

As for doing it, there are post in the Truck section in the "stickies" at the top of the page...look in the 2 Cargo Van threads....its not hard if you are mechanically inclined and can deal with automotive electical systems....

remember the total of the system will only be as good as its weakest item...cheap really isn't the way to go.....

the easiest way to do it is to run a 4 ga cable from the field terminal on the back of the alterator to a ingintion switched continous run solenoid of around 225 amps. then run a fused $ 4 cable from the solenoid to the aux battery. Then hook the battery to the inverter, mount and ground the inverter and you are all set.

Oh I have 2 big 6 volt floor scrubber batteries to do the same job you want to do, I still do NOT use the micro wave without starting the motor....

If you are unsure of doing it yourself, any good shade tree mechanic or independent mechanic shop can do it, especially if they're one that works on lots of different stuff, like RV's and other types of vehicles.

Main thing is to know your amp requirements so you can properly size the battery bank.
