Van guys especially, do you purchase the road hazard certificates when you replace tires? I'm looking at a set of Michelins, which are a long way off obviously but just working up numbers now, and the certificates are $28.75 per tire or 14.26% of the price of the tire. That's a Discount Tires figure but probably similar elsewhere. I just like Discount Tires.

I got the road hazard certificate from Discount Tire. Glad I did considering the condition of the roads around here. I've replaced 2 tires already this year after hitting debris out in the middle of the highway. For me, it's paid for itself. Those guys have never charged me for plugging tires after picking up a nail or whatever.

If I spent more time in Michigan I'd probably get the certificates, too. I've never bought them, tho. I once had to have a tire replaced due to road hazard, but that was like 15 years ago in Hot Springs, AR, a Bridgestone on the Camaro, paid under $10 for the pro rated charge (changing that tire on the side of the road was also my very first encounter with Fire Ants, an encounter that I don't ever want to repeat). Since I've been expediting I've picked up a couple of bolts. Both times the closest tire place fixed the hole at no charge (Big O once and Discount Tire once), which I thought was very nice.

Remember discount offers free flat repairs and free rotation and balance every 5000 or so miles. Not sure if you need the certificate for the rotation and balance. Flat repairs are free to anyone even if your tires weren't bought from them. I always get the road hazard, but the roads here are terrible, pothole city
Discount is the best:D:)

Just bought a set of tires and shocks in Dallas this past sunday. No road hazzard warranty. I probably hit every pothole in the road on any given day. I get the ft end aligned on a regular basis because of that. The way i treat tires, it is really amazing that i haven't had a blown out from hitting something or a big pothole, but i can say in all my yrs of driving i never have, now watch, my number is now up!!

So no, no road hazzard warranty here....Oh and the last set of tires were Copper load range E, 8 ply...they lasted 112,560 miles....
