Willie Nelson Launches Political Movement After Arrest
Wednesday December 1, 2010

Forget the Tea Party -- country music legend Willie Nelson has a different kind of movement he wants you to join.
"There's the Tea Party," he said in an email to the CelebStoner Web site. "How about the Teapot Party? Our motto: We lean a little to the left."

Nelson, 77, was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol for possession of marijuana last week, despite the fact that he was roughly 100 miles for the U.S. border at the time.

"It's supposed to be a checkpoint only for aliens, and [agents] overstep their authority all the time," Texas attorney Dick DeGuerin told Rolling Stone. "I've had several cases from that checkpoint and they just use the opportunity to check out anybody they want to."

But the local sheriff doesn't seem to care -- in fact, he's taken delight in the idea of hosting an elderly music legend in his jail.

"He could get 180 days in county jail, which if he does, I'm going to make him cook and clean," Sheriff Arvin West told the El Paso Times. "He can wear the stripy uniforms just like the other ones do."

But if Nelson's new party succeeds, he won't be a lawbreaker anymore.

"Tax it, regulate it and legalize it," Nelson wrote. "And stop the border wars over drugs. Why should the drug lords make all the money? Thousands of lives will be saved."

I would agree with Willy but here are two issues,

1 - we are way too compassionate to handle the mess that will be created by legalizing anything. We are a country that people think they have rights, the right to drive and the right to do drugs I bet will be on top of the list of users who are caught after they run over a bunch of kids at a bus stop. We as a nation will have to look at why the user became a user and then justify their actions in killing those 14 kindergartens by making an excuse for them - parents beat them, parents molested them, they were bullied, they were molested by the cat, the cat bullied them, etc.. . It will grow out of proportion and challenged every step of the way. JUST here in Michigan, the voters passed a great compassionate Cannabis use law that is very specific in the what, who, why, where and hows of Cannabis growing for medical purposes and one thing that is not included specifically is dispensaries but we have idiots here who are saying the law is vague (which it is not), it is open to interpretation (which it's clear) and so on - all because a few feel it is a right to use when and where they want.

2 - Willy knows better. He should hire someone to be his fall guy for this and has enough money to do so. There would be a large number of clean sober people who would carry for him at a good wage but alas he is another rich 'artist' who thinks his sh*t doesn't stink and the man is out to get him.

Willie Nelson, the herbal American. At least that's what Toby Keith called him. He should stick to Whiskey River and skip High Noon.:)
