The end of the world

With a nod to Skeeter Davis (& Moot)

Why do folks keep on wanting
To drive all over this land?
Why are they in such demand?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when they banned the van.

Why do carriers keep on signing
Newbies with contracts in hand?
Why do they bother to plan?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when they banned the van.

Why do I keep expediting?
Why am I such a fan?
Why are the keys never far from my hand?
Don't I know it's the end of the world?
It won't be, till they ban the van! ;)

I got a brand new pair of snowy chains you have a brand new key
Why don't you strap down a little freight and come expedite with me
We'll travel over the country there is so much to see..

Oh I've got a brand new pair of snowy chains and you have a brand new key

It's all the same
Only the freight will change
Everyday I see my revenue slipping away..
Another place where the where the ground is oh so cold
All I wish is... I could just go home

I'm a freight boy on a steel horse I ride
I expedite.. dead or alive
I expedite dead or alive

Sometimes I sleep
Sometime not for days
The people I meet
Complain of what I'm paid
Sometimes I tell the day
By the logs that I see
Worrying all along
Lack of freight will set me free

I'm a cowboy on a steel horse I ride

I'm traveling down the road I'm flirting with disaster
Got my sights set straight ahead not sure what I'm after
Out of money out of hope it looks like self destruction
How much more can we take with all this corruption
Flirting with disaster y'all know what I mean
the way we live our lives makes no sense to me

What do you know
The perfect un-violated expedite song:D

I'm sittin in a WalMart lot
Babbling on EO
Not much else to do right now
Noplace else to go
Mmmm mmm, consignee bound
I wish I was consignee bound.

Spent Thanksgiving with family
I think they've seen enough of me
It's time to go - but there's no freight
All I can do is sit & wait.
Mmmmm mmm, consignee bound
I wish I was consignee bound.

Wouldn't take much to make me smile
Just any old kind of load
I want to get moving already
I wanna hit the road
Mmmmm mmmm, consignee bound
I wish I was consignee bound.

OK Cheri here it is,

The Load is Wrong
with many a bad turn
That leads us to who Knows where
Who Knows Where
But I'm Strong
Strong Enough to Beat Him
He ain't Heavy He's My Broker

So on we go
His Welfare is my Concern
No Burden is he to Bear
We'll get it there

For I know
He would not screw me
He Ain't Heavy He's my Broker

If I'm Laden at all
I'm Laden with Heavy Freight

It's a Long ,Long Road
From Which there is No Return (Must be Detroit)
While we are on the way There
Why Not Share

He's my Broker
He ain't Heavy He's My Broker.

IN THE YEAR 2009 (To the tune of In The Year 2525; well sort of!)

In the year twenty-o-nine
if expedite is still alive
if van can survive
you may find...

In the year twenty-o-nine
Expedite is in decline
The bank took that van of mine
Now I'm not feeling so fine

In the year twenty-o-nine
The economy has run a muck
Davekc sold his trucks
while Dreamer made a buck

In the year twenty-o-nine
Cheri gave up The Ghost
T-Hawk's credit is toast
RichM made a post

In the year twenty-o-nine
Obama is the commander-in-chief
Leo is filled with grief
Layoutshooter is collecting relief

In the year twenty-o-nine
Turtle parts ways with a certain feline
now he is standing in a soup line
chugging down a bottle of T-Bird wine

In the year twenty-o-nine
The hot freight market has become cool
causing HighwayStar to eat nothing but gruel
Packmule he's no fool, got a job digging swimming pools

In the year twenty-o-nine
Things are getting worse
Jaminjim is driving a hearse
and Fastman just stole a purse

In the year twenty-o-nine
Bailouts are all the rage
the future, ATeam couldn't gauge
the Prof demonstrates his Pee Pipe on stage

In the year twenty-o-nine
Lawrence is filled with doubt
Broompilot is running a route
while mr.goodtude serves more time out

Now it's been one full year
expediters have cried a billion tears
guess we never knew
what 2009 would put us through

maybe with a little luck
the bank will let us keep our truck
if you think about this
this life really doesn't suck

BRAVO!!! :D:D:D
Our EO Poet Laureate does it again, and I'm collapsed in giggles (not a bad way to be, BTW) I totally agree: this life doesn't suck - but only if none of those predictions come true, eh?

Whoa, thought it was a nightmare,
Lo, can it be so true,
They told me, "Don't go driving slow
'Cause dispatch is on the loose."

Better run through the red light,
Better run faster than you need,
Better run through the ice,
Woa, Don't look at your speed.

Thought I heard a beeping
QC givin' me a call,
Two hundred million loads were posted
Dispatch cries, "Bid em' all!"

Better run through the red light,
Better run faster than you need,
Better run through the ice,
Woa, Don't look at your speed.

Over the network
Dispatch magic spoke,
"Let the drivers know our wisdom,
Burn up the asphalt with smoke."

Better run through the red light,
Better run faster than you need,
Better run through the ice,
Woa, Don't look at your speed.
