Success without the government

In Knoxville there's a facility and program called Restoration House. It's privately run to help single moms. It's a 2 year program. Going in the people know they have 2 years of support. They have counseling and classes and learn budgeting and life skills and job skills and how to make a life for themselves once they leave. It's not multi-generational or even lifetime although if the government got involved I'm sure they could devolve it to that point. It's featured in the latest episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It's the type of success that can be achieved if the government is kept out of "helping".

Sounds like some form of Prison....someone is profiting of these womens misery....They need to focus on teaching kids, so they dont end up like these poor souls.....invest in the future....this is all by design....invest in real education, and America would have alot less problems.

I like private programs if they are run well. Government cannot solve the problems we have. They are the cause of our problems. Government also does not "invest" in education, it just spends others hard earned money with no chance of return. Those who provide the money have little or no say on how it is spent. Kinda sounds like taxation without representation to me.

Nobody is taking advantage of the women. They and their children are being helped to better themselves and to be ready and capable to live on their own once their time in Restoration House is over. It's how assistance programs should work and how they would work if they weren't run by feelers or the government.

Outside of the military, the government has no programs that are a success. Private outfits always seem to do a better job. Below is where I would look for the revenue if something is successful.


Salary of retired US Presidents ..............$180,000 FOR LIFE

Salary of House/Senate ........................$174,000 FOR LIFE This is stupid

Salary of Speaker of the House ..............$223,500 FOR LIFE This is really stupid

Salary of Majority/Minority Leaders ....... $193,400 FOR LIFE Ditto last line

Those should all be on social security like all the rest of us plus anything privately done personally just like all the rest of us. They also need to pay a lot of other things they aren't paying.

Good idea, it will never happen. THEY are in charge and do as they please. They KNOW that, unless it is REALLY bad, they will be reelected anyway.
