Straight Tax will it help

There is plenty of talk around about having a national straight tax of 15 % on all items bought and do away with the IRS. I feel it would harm the military, small business and trucking industry. Am I wrong? 1st the military gets tax free status whiles in combat zone. If straight tax is in effect their spouse and family would be subject to a straight tax here while they are overseas. 2nd small business would have to pay taxes on money they recoup from doing business when they spend it. Say they spent $50,000 and had to pay 15% tax on it then they had to pay another 15% on that same 50,000 when they recoup it from their cost of goods sold (COGS). I know some will says that first $50,000 would be tax exempt but would you trust the goverment to be that smart. Then the expediter that would do away with your mileage exemption then you would have to pay 15% on all purchases you make including fuel. So if you gross $80,000 how would you like to pay 15% on all of that when it all isn't profit and you paid 15% on about 1/3 of the money you get from previous spent. Sounds like lots of doubling dipping. I would park my van and say good nite to expediting. I might be tottaly insane to think this way but figure the stright tax would greatly increase the elderly demise to a better living. Just think of a person drawing about 800.00 a month SS and then have to deduct $120.00 when they spend it. Hope if they do pass this item they would take more things in effect like food, medicine and payments to insurance but if you give our goverment a way to take our money they will. In Florida and some other states if you rent a business location you have to pay sales tax on it. Even in Ohio they were thinking of taxing the sales of your home, don't know if it went through or not. This is just a sample of taxing from the goverment that some may be unaware of.

FAIR TAX

there is no income tax

there is no taxes on investments

there is no taxes on social security

there is no tax on estates or farms that accumulate in value

there is no IRS

the system for collections is already setup in all 50 states and territories and to go to this will be easier than anything else we have done so far

there is a flat tax of 23% on all new items sold for personal use

there is no tax on business related items including the truck, the parts for the truck and everything you buy to run your business

it will bring in more investments from overseas, hence will strengthen the dollar

it will bring the expatriated money in from off shore accounts

the savings from the accounting for any business (average of $1500 for each business) or any personal filings (an average of $175 for each filer) will put more money in the economy than the last stimulus package

it helps people get out of the hole they are in by removing the punitive progressive tax that is imposed on everyone, man women and child

the fair tax is fair to the lower class and in one move removes a lot of the incentive not to work

A straight tax will help, but it should be coupled with a gay tax. I think regardless of sexual preference we should all pay our fair share.

None of this reform means anything unless we tackle Congressional spending. The more they spend the more they have to collect.

Tackle this and you have a winner. A cycle that will continue until the American people get tired of it.

What I speak about is not reform but taking control away from the congress, a shift in power back to the people.

The problem with spending is that there will never be control until we get to educate people who is in charge.

I don't believe I quoted you when I posted my comment, however, I will comment on your comment.

The problem is the "never" part. It is an attitude. Change this and you can change the world.

Spending continues because we allow it. When we take responsibilty for this error we can then correct it. By shirking our responsibilities as good citizens we help create BIG GOV'T.

Yep, I know that now - sorry.

I agree with you but read my last comments in the sugar thread, maybe that will show you where I am coming from.
