WASHINGTON – Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says he will issue a new order imposing a moratorium on deepwater drilling after a federal judge struck down the existing one.

Salazar said in a statement Tuesday evening that the new order will contain additional information making clear why the six-month drilling pause was necessary in the wake of the Gulf oil spill. The judge in New Orleans who struck down the moratorium earlier in the day complained there wasn't enough justification for it.

Salazar pointed to indications of inadequate safety precautions by industry on deepwater wells. He said he would issue a new order in the coming days showing that a moratorium is needed.

The White House also is appealing the judge's ruling.

If these STUPID LIBERAL MORONS had something other than feces for brains they'd realize THEY ARE THE PROBLEM NOT THE SOLUTION. Yes, there is greater risk to deep water drilling than there is to shallow water drilling and on land drilling. DUH! But they are the ones who won't authorize drilling where it's far more effective, far less expensive and far less prone to problems!!! FOOLS!

OVM wrote:

IT is noted in many articles that the moratorium will create more financial damage then the spill itself...

many 1,000's of workers are laid off...

And barry wanted BP to pay for all of those displaced by barrys moratorium...BP grew a pair at that point and said no

Also theother oil companies have told barrys minions that if this continues, they will plug there wells and move their rigs to other countries....barry doesn't care at all....

but barry doesn't want a fix....oil isn't Green....he wants to stop most all drilling and to price coal provide power here in the US....but the US is more then happy to help Brazils Petrobras and soros to the tune of 200 billion in loans so they can drill in deeper waters then BP was.....

Or maybe rather than doubling the costs by requiring double drilling every time, an even better solution would be drilling in ANWR and in shallow water where they'd get numerous wells for the cost of one deep water well.

So this is puzzling, the court said no, the DoI says they will anyway? Didn't anyone mention to Obama that this may be a problem if one judge said no.
