Rapid City can boast a steady growth in population for the past decade.

The U.S. Census Bureau released the 2009 population estimates for the country this week and Rapid City, now at 67,107 people, has jumped 12.6 percent since 2000, adding between 800 and 1,500 people each year. Pennington County passed the 100,000 milestone with a 2 percent jump from 2008 for a total of 100,850 people in 2009.

Rapid City Mayor Alan Hanks said the city became a regional hub for a number of amenities, including retail, medical care, entertainment and retirement.

“We’ve been very fortunate in the fact that Rapid City offers what I would call a quality of life that very, very few other communities in the country can offer,” Hanks said.

The recent recession did not phase the growth in population, and Hanks said Rapid City seemed to weather the economic downturn better than other parts of the country. :D

Imagine that. Somewhere that presumably still has some values and some decency and probably a lot of common sense is doing better than average compared to the areas that are criminal alien and welfare leach infested places. Doesn't take that much of an expert to figure this one out.

I think Americans such as yourself and Joe are tired of being surrounded by the entitlement crowd and came looking for something closer to some value added life..where the majority think more like you guys....if I said that right.

It is not all doom and gloom out there...as some of our resident experts declare....they are such experts they drive a darn truck...gee whiz.....
It's a shame that the only people who know how to properly run the country are driving trucks or cutting hair.
