Prime to buy Landstar

Not sure if this matters or not....Not sure about Prime and landstar, though one could check to see if anybody is buying up the stock readying for a taking over bid....

But ''skuttle butt'' around town back home, when I called back to ask about this tread was ..."no knowledge of Prime and Landstar"..but that Landstar has been trying or is trying still to purchase Artisan/NLM. Especially since NLM got back GM contract from PLS.

Didn't know that NLM lost GM at all.

By the way, Landstar has owned NLM for a while.

Well, I see the "skuttle butt" passed along to me was a bit accurate and a bit out-dated as well.

Though please define "a while"...NLM as it is known today was formed in Late 2007 by Artisan Associates, Artisan Container Services, National Logistics Management, and NLM Supply Chain Solutions....So are you saying that Landstar bought post 2007 NLM, or owned one (National or NLM Supply ) of the 4 combined 3PL's prior to late 2007...??

My apologies for misunderstanding, I was writing from my reference point in machinery/heavy haul......
Artisan , whom at the time controlled NLM or formed NLM together with the above listed 3PL's back in 2007 I think it was, lost the Machinery contract to PLS ( Pitt Logistics )... I can't remember the time time frame all this happened. Have no clue if NLM ever lost GM for expedited work. For a long time, we inter-changed the names.....Artisan or NLM as the same, as it was just Artisan prior to 2007 for machinery moves.

So than if NLM has been sold to Landstar recently or since 2007, than it is NLM that reaquired the GM Machinery Contract....which is irrelevant to this thread, I suppose

Thanks for clearing that up for me....

Prime does have the assets to buy landstar as they are the largest reefer company out there.Hell the even own a couple of Casinos on the gulf and shares in many others.Between reefer, flatbed and tanker, they run over 10,000 trucks and like landstar they lease their trailers.
and as for Kmart buying Sears it was the other way around as a stockholder of Sears I should know!

Be Safe All!

Well you better tell all the news people that, it was reported K mart bought Sears bt everyone

I don't remember the gentleman's name but Prime is owned by someone from around Kansas City. He owns Casinos up that way. When Rockaway Beach got a item? on the ballot a couple of years ago to put a casino in Rockaway Beach the owner of Prime was the backer for the State wide advertising. It didn't pass. Prime has dry van, flat bed & reefer divisions. You can get about any make tractor to lease through them.

If my memory is still working i think his name is Robert Low and he also owns a race horse or he did when I was with Prime back 2003-2005

Thx Transporter,

Well, the one benefit that has presented itself to Landstar is reaquiring the GM Machinery Contract...which is huge....this is a fairly recent event, and possibly a reason that GM went back to NLM..."speculation" on my part and those I spoke with...But you are correct, the bco's and agents most likely won't see a real bennie...as the loads are/will be posted up for bid in a centralized system.....

Be Safe
