Reminds me of when they built the Zilwaukee Bridge up around Midland Michigan....when they came to the center connecting point over the bay from each bank, it didn't fit together...one side was higher then the other.....

They also had some kind of structure failure before it was connected. The end pointed North dropped down. It didn't make me real confidant about using it when it was done.

Since living in Saginaw/Frankenmuth when the z bridge was being built the majority of the locals thought it was a big joke to waste the money in replacing a perfectly good draw bridge.

Something not to many folks know...The Z bridge is GLUED together, thats right each of the sections when set inplace where finnished off with a glue.... Thus one mile in each direction prior to the bridge you will see a little sign with a green dot, that sign informs the road crew that from that point on they need to use urea to melt the ice and snow, you see regular roads salt will eat away the glue.... So if you choose, use I-675 loop.
Back in the day when I was a paramedic, I was dispatched to that site many times.....but thats another story

I miss the draw bridge. I always looked forward to the traffic back-ups all the way to Flint on memorial day weekend. :D
