I totally agree with this take on this issue. The socialist in power now didn't just move into power...the slowly took over the democrat party....They the Socialist now run the dem party. The Libertarian party has shown that it has the right ideals for most Conservatives, but they lack the right people that can be elected on their own....by working from within the Republican party and getting the republicans to work with them...you could see more real Constitutionalist in office....I don't agree with Ron Paul on all issues, but having 10 -12 more people like him in office would certainly be good for our country....

First they have to get rid of Steele, Gingrich and others of the old guard who say there is no real problem or have been doing nothing except talking - we just have to pull it together. With them in place, still talking about the old issues, libertarians can't get involved.

Libertarians also have to change a few things. Personal liberties that are viewed as destructive - drugs - need to take a back seat from the public for a long time just like in the republican party abortion needs to be something that is sacrificed to get the party back into power. The sad thing is until either of those two things are done, neither party will make good gains that give a solid foundation.

Oh the other really really sad thing is BOTH parties are being handed an opportunity to push forward and make great strides but they are encumbered by two things - the stupidity of the few controlling the many and a fear of upsetting the races.

Good stuff! I agree with him that Republicans need Libertarians; and like the idea of Libertarians taking over the Republican party. But in reality...

I did/do hope we can weed the centrists of both parties (R&D) into their own party, and let the Republicans go back to fighting for the republic to remain a republic.
