Why are some of us owner operators and some company drivers? I have heard that O/O are thinkers and creative due to their paying all their expenses. So are company drivers non thinkers and out for the ride only? U decide. P.S. there are no wrong answers, just opinons................sky

To be an o/o you have to have some business skills. Some people have it some not. To have a fleet you have to have more business skills than to be an o/o. It is not just to pay some expenses. It is to take the best business decision in the right time. If you don't have this skills better drive for somebody else,be a good driver and don't put your family close to bankruptcy. It is not about thinkers or not thinkers.

I am far too picky about the mechanical condition and looks of what I drive to be a company driver.Although there are some fleet owners who are picky as I am, but not many.It just works out best this way for me.Complete control of my destiny.

That's right. And when I was a picky company driver after getting everything set up and running the way I like, the company uses my assigned vehicle as a loaner vehicle for another driver while I'm off for the weekend. I come back to a truck reeking of cigarettes, mud on my designated clean carpet, tools rearranged... Grrr.
