Toronto and Ontario led the country in job growth in November as Canada gained a remarkable 79,100 new jobs, pulling the national unemployment rate down one notch to 8.5 per cent, as private businesses finally began to hire again, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

The province gained 27,100 new jobs, but it wasn't enough to offset the Ontario's own high unemployment rate, which remained unchanged at 9.3 per cent.

IF they lived that way Dakota I would be up there in a HEARTBEAT, THAT IS FREEDOM. Of course I could NOT carry my handgun there, or hunt more than 100 yards off shore. *SIGH*, NO freedom there either.

OH NO YOU CAN'T!! No hunting off shore in Ontario and QC for sure, NOT sure about the REST of the country. NO spring bear hunts in ONT any longer. Registration of ALL guns. Many areas of Canada are putting HEAVY restrictions on freedom of movement in the field, requiring guides, restricting hunting methods etc.

Those are just SOME of the reasons that the numbers of Canadian waterfowl hunters have dropped off by over 95% in the last 10 years. Numbers of general hunters are off even more than here in the U.S. as well. The number of Canadians hunting in Michigan is UP!! Why? They are freer here, then can just GO HUNTING here. Even carry and hunt with a handgun if they so CHOOSE.

It is easy to say you have the same freedoms since you don't participate in the activities that are being restricted. Same in this country. NO ONE cares about TOTAL freedom or the freedom of OTHERS. MOST, not I mind you but most, then ONLY to rise up when THEIR freedoms are restricted. By then it is too late.

HEY!!! I won one!!! :D It USED to be FREE up there too. I USED to just be able to buy a Canadian hunting licience, put my boat in on the U.S. side and just go hunt in Canadian waters. NOT any more. NOW, I have to get permission from Canadian customs to even drop an anchor to hunt, fish or just anchor a boat up there. I have to call Customs from a designated phone in Canada and WAIT for AT LEAST 40 Minutes for a Canadian Customs official to check my papers. IF one does NOT show I am free to leave and drop an anchor, IF, I have my papers and clearence numbers with me.

Those changes took place LONG before 9/11. YEARS before. Canada has been becoming VERY restrictive on the border for a VERY long time. Even to the point of Canadian Coast Guard vessels harrasing U.S. waterfowl hunters in U.S. waters and BOARDING 16ft fishing boats. I can give you THAT guys name and info if you need it.

Not really, just do it RIGHT!! There was even one time a year or two ago when a U.S Coast Guard Cutter and a Canadian Coast Guard Cutter sort of "squared off" on Lake Erie. The Canadian's were "bugging" a fishing boat, IN U.S. waters. The small boat called the Coast Guard on his radio, and continued to lead the Canadian boat on a wild goose chase. NO WAY can a large cutter turn like an 18 footer with a 200hp on it. Anyway, when the U.S. Cutter showed up she placed herself in between the Canadian cutter and the fishing boat and forced the Canadian BACK accross the line. Silly Silly stuff.

I can remember the day when U.S. and Canadian ice breakers USED to work together.

I don't see the big deal here, so they now have more people working?

How about when Ford closes St Thomas or Chrysler closes their plants?

Let's not forget GM closing plants in the near future when they company goes belly up.

How big is Canada's workforce?

How many of the workforce actually work?

How many does Canada have in H1-b style visa workers?

Doesn't Canada also count the amount of workers that are employed outside of Canada as employment? I know Ford and Chrysler have 'hired' a number of Canadian residents to work here to avoid a number of expenses like health care, even though they are form Pakistan, Sri Lanka and China.
