Obama's Spending Cuts

From the Heritage Foundation - Obama's spending cuts illustrated. Everyone understands pictures and this illustration makes a great point. You have to look closely to get the "point", but it certainly puts his spending and deficits in perspective.

According to reports, President Barack Obama plans to convene his Cabinet for the first time today, where he will order members to identify a combined $100 million in budget cuts over the next 90 days. Just how laughable is Obama’s latest stunt to try to maintain his “fiscal responsibility” credentials? This graphic from Heritage’s John Fleming might help:

Harvard University economics professor Greg Mankiw’s comments:
"To put those numbers in perspective, imagine that the head of a household with annual spending of $100,000 called everyone in the family together to deal with a $34,000 budget shortfall. How much would he or she announce that spending had to be cut? By $3 over the course of the year–approximately the cost of one latte at Starbucks. The other $33,997? We can put that on the family credit card and worry about it next year.”

This also illustrates what the "Tea Parties" were all about - not necessarily our income taxation level this year, but the taxation that will be necessary in the future due to Obama's irresponsible fiscal policy.

100 million is not a real cut no matter who's pictures are put up from any group. It is very easy to cut that much. My friend and I cut 69 million in less than one week on only one program. No matter who cuts it, if he really cuts it, it is a very tiny drop in the bucket. Cut out welfare, the education department and a few other things that are not federal responsibility and you MIGHT make a dent. Obama is just the lead comedian in a cast of fools we call our "leaders" Layoutshooter

So Hannity and Limbaugh are supporters of the Heritage Foundation? Talk about a blinding glimpse of the obvious! What does that have to do with the factual content and the accuracy of the numbers presented in the article? Nothing, because they're right on the money (pardon the pun). The proposed spending cuts are a joke because (a) the amount is pathetically small and (b) they'll never be implemented anyway by this congress. The American public is so poorly educated when it comes to economics, they won't understand what this massive govt. spending is doing to our future economy until it's too late.

Isn't that rule 37 or is it rule 38? When the information is accurate and there's no way to honestly or legitimately rebut it you attack the source as a diversion.

$100 million is nothing, he is asking for $1.8 billion just to tackle the pig flu.

The other thing he said he is going to do is to go through the budget and cut out the excessive spending. Well guess what? He can't - he doesn't have the power to do that.

Did you know our interest on our debt will be a trillion a year at these low rates?

Why does he need 1.8 billion for the flu? He just got almost 700 million in his new budget for health care, why not use some of that? Oh yeah, that is just to socialise health care. I guess that this already proves that there will NEVER be enough money for free heath care. The Putz strikes again. Layoutshooter

The more important question is why did they push the HHS secretary's approval to today and stopped all debate in the senate?

It is not like she can hit the ground running, she has to finish her business in Kansas and then it will take her at least a month to be brought up to speed on all the issues.

HHS is in the background with the pig flu, we have DHS, CDC, NASA, State Department, the OMB, the congressional oversight committee on international health disasters, all fifty states and Purteo rico, Guam, the nation of Cuba and the UN all involved with this "disaster" all the while Mexico is saying it is our fault that it happened in Mexico and may bring us to world court to sue us for damages at the same time the WHO may tell us to shut the border to Mexico.

Greg, when did Mexico blame us for this flu? I missed that one. I have no doubt that Air Force One had the virus in tanks on the wings when it flew into Mexico, Obama wanted to start a panic down there and force many more millions of Dumb-O-Cratic voters into theUS. How did Mexico find out? Close the borders. The virus is loose, no way to stop that now but we need to stop the possible flood of truely paniced people seeking health care here. Layout, The AP radio news reported it yesterday that the president of Mexico made the comment that it is the fault of the US and the reporter went on to say why, something with cutting our aid to them for healthcare, which makes no sense at all because we gave them so much in medical supplies which were sold to Cuba.

I have yet heard anything else about it from any other source so I am writing this off as AP BS.
