It will come as no surprise to many that Obama's big announcement and all his plans and ideas offer no solution at all to the shooting at Newtown nor will it prevent any similar future events.

That's what is so frustrating with Obama and those like him. If they can look at the school, mall, movie theater and other shootings, and come up with viable options that would prevent such shootings, I think the American people will back those solutions, whatever those solutions might be. And that includes banning assault rifles and large magazines. Except, no one can show banning assault rifles and large magazines is a viable option - they merely hope it is. But the American people won't back throwing the baby out with the bath water, where everyone is treated to the lowest common denominator, treating everyone as if they're a moron who might do something bad. (You know, like Panther does, or the FMCSA does.) If they can come up with real, solid viable solutions, people will listen, but as long as they try a quick and easy feel good solution that won't work, the people will have none of it.
