you here about the fair-tax proposial in MI, it would do away with Income tax,and bussiness tax and no tax for business to business. would raise tax sales tax to .09 cents per dollar.So all those canadaians,allians,and tourest would all be paying tax. that they been not paying for all these years...

Well as a Michigan resident, I would rather see this;
Do away with the property tax.
Raise the sales tax to 8 cents.
Then do away with income and business tax.
Raise the sales tax to 10 cents.
Doing away with the property tax will help the economy, getting people back into this state to buy property - but wait until I buy mine....
Doing away with the income and business tax will add even more incentive to have people move and start businesses in the state.....
BUT it will never happen.......
Because....
.....we have stupid (not ignorant, not dumb but STUPID) people living in the state and voting for people who are ruining the state - Granholm is one who should never have been reelected and it looks like you can lie under oath and get away with it in the city of Detroit. Not to mention that we the people have yet understood the need to vote in others for seats that have been held for years (fo example Dingell who by the way wants to see fuel taxes go up even though it would hurt his district)
....we have a really strong teachers union which has driven property taxes up and we can't get by them just to fire some teachers in the state.
So it would be great to have these two things happen, the state would grow and we would be back on track instead of in the scrap yard.
Oh the other thing, we can also claim the great lakes as an enterprise zone and drill for oil, there is enough under the water to let exploration happen.
