This is just VERY raw data, I just posted it to show that what is going on economically is nothing new or even all that bad. To be of real value you would have to have lots more data. Like, being or ending a major military action. Relitive tax rates to the ecomonmy of the time. Interest rates. Outside influenc on the ecomonmy, I.E. Oil prices. ETcETC ETC. I wish I had time to put all that together but I am sitting waiting for a new storm load. No time to do it. It would be a blast to do. No economic up turn or down turn takes place in a vacuum. They take place over several years and react rather slowly to some stimulli and quicker to others. The trick is to take politics out of it and try to see what other adverse influences cause the most damage. High taxes? (my first choice) Outside influence (my second) World economic influences (my 3rd) Layoutshooter

That may or may not be true. I do think that it might be a bit more complicated than that. That is giving them a lot of credit for brains, I don't think they are as smart as they think they are. I feel that there are many internal and external influences that shape our economy. Our normal business cycle. Oil prices. Our spending habits. etc etc. Nothing is ever as simple as is seems when it comes to the economy. Layoutshooter

It's true, the doctrine has something to do with creating false crisis' to bring in the fix that people want. With oil there is no 'easy' solution but drilling is one path that should happen.

Like the Depression, where there was solutions that were ignored to bring in sweeping changes that brought more problems. The cure is sometimes worst than the problem.

The Depression might have ended much sooner than it did had it not been for some of the "fixes" that were put into place. Taxes were WAY too high and needed to be dropped to spur new business. The Libs tend to forget, or not care, that it is business that provides most of our jobs. They produce the only jobs that earn money. Government jobs cost the economy money. Some are a nessary funtion of government, military etc. The rest are just a way to buy votes. Layoutshooter

Yep, we can get through this mess if we want too. I am afraid that many want the economy to fail and are working to insure it does. There are SOOOOOOOOOO many new opportunities right now it is un-real. The ONLY thing that can stop a new boom is the government getting in the way. What oppotunity? New energy production and sorces. New ways to power houses, new kinds of APU's. Our road system needs repair/replacement and new design. Just these few things can power a new base economy. There are many many more out there. The biggest problem in this country? The "Whinnies" rule. layoutshooter
