New Truck sales tax & registration

Hi All. I have a question. I'm buying a new truck from a dealer in Indian to pull a wedge trailer. I will be leasing to a transport company in Ohio. My home state id Florida. This is the first commercial truck that I have bought and am not completely clear how the registrtion and titling is going to work and about paying sales tax. My understanding is that the truck would be titled in FL but registered in Ohio. Does the dealer in IN collect the sales tax for FL ? How do I get the title (or copy) to my transport co to get the apportioned plate and IFTA. FL said the send the title to the lender. I want this to get done ASAP so I can put the truck to work. Anyone with experence in FL would be app. The trailer seems to be straight forward, Title and reg in FL with them collecting the sales tax, guess the title would still go to lender. Thanks.

GVWR of the truck is 25550. Trailer is 20000.
The transport co will register the comb to 40000 lbs.

You may want to track down the hotshot forum and inquire there as well. There may be more people familiar with this setup than we have. Good luck to you.

Once you have your FL title, you will then need a IRP account that must be obtained in Talahassee. Can be done by mail, but it takes several weeks. Once that is set up, you will then recieve your plates. You can do a search on IRP in FL and it will give you a step by step process.
If you title and live in FL, that is where your plate will come from. Not Ohio. Where the carrier is at doesn't matter unless they provide a base plate. In that case, no IRP is needed, as you are added to the carrier and their account.
You shouldn't have sales tax in FL as long as you fill out the tax exemption papers, and are using it commercially.

My transport co in Ohio is ging to buy the plate. I have yet to find out if and how I can get out of paying sales tax. I talked to FL department of Rev and they said unless I'm a transport Co myself I don't qulify for porated sales tax. So I'm pretty confused and planning on paying the sales tax through the freightliner dealer.
