NEW School prayer :

This was written by a student:

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd..

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That's no offense; it's a freedom scene...

The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks...

They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles..

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen
Listen up I didn't write this. Its was sent to me in my email and the person whom sent it stated a student outta OH Had written it.

Now Before you go on jumping up and down this is the kind of junk that is in the schools today that our very tax dollars are paying for.

I didn't grow up that way. Just like they teach the kids now that they can get a divorce from their parents.

Interesting isn't. In my day of growing up it was unheard of.
today this it seem is a common thing. Just taking prayer outta school. ECT.

Have a nice day.

I Didn't Admonish my Kids when they were In School for Praying and I sure as Heck Will Not Admonish My Grand Children for doing the Same Thing! The way I See it and Tell it is that IF Your Offended by the Mention Of God in Anyplace at All, Then Your Welcome to Leave because I sure as Heck am NOT Going to Quit Praying Because "Some" Clown Doesn't Like it! Mind you, That I am Not One of those Bible Thumpers and I Do Not Try and Force my Religion On Anyone But, I will Not Give it up so Some Moron won't be Offended!!

A student outta OH, a child in Boston, a 12-year old girl in Boston, a student in Bagdad, Arizona, a teen in Dayton, TN (no doubt to commemmorate some anniversary of the Scopes Monkey Trial), an elementary student in Allentown, PA, a child in Altanta, GA and too many others to recount here have all written this thing many times over many years. A student in Manhattan, KS came up with it just about the time the state legislature was trying to legislate that Evolution cannot be taught in school unless Creationism was taught along side of it. I wonder who that student was? I wonder why not one of these students, not one, has ever wanted to claim actual authorship of the piece. It's amazing that such a "prayer" would be, could be, written by so many disparate students over so many years, not to mention that not one of them wanted to claim credit for it. And while the removal of prayer in schools certainly predates the Internet, none of the independently written and attributed "prayers" predate it.

It's a nice piece, a scathing comment on our times. I just don't know why the need to attribute it to a student, as if that will somehow make it more emotionally valid. The most honest this has ever been presented, where the piece itself was allowed to stand on its own, was when it was published in the newspaper as being penned by that most famous of all writers, Anonymous.

This probably needs to be moved to the Soapbox. I can see some arguments and major comments coming this way.
