Why did you have to bring this up? Now I have to reply
I hope that it is shut down for the week, I hope that they over turn the stupid ruling keeping the casinos open and forces the casinos to shut down in Detroit.
The people of this state deserve everything that we get – you all reelected a lying piece of **** who does not care to do anything to help the state and move it forward and the legislator is helping her destroy it. They want to raise taxes across the board, they want to raise the sales tax and eliminate the services exemption, they want to balance the budget without serious cuts in education that is needed (get rid of the administrators and stream line the system to give back more control locally) and a reduction in social services that will not affect a single person.
I met her when she was McNamara’s right hand go to arm twisting girl. I knew when she was running for governor that this state was done for and she will lie, cheat and steal to get her agenda through – which she has. The second she got into office, she blamed everything on the previous administration, an administration that left us with a $1B surplus and some hope.
But what really bothers me is the stupidity of the people around me and the stupidity of the state in general, like my neighbor who buys into her lies. The other day he came over and during the conversation he brought up how unfair Channel 7 has been to our ‘governor’ on reporting the state police headquarters issue and the cronyism that is going on there – talk about a Boss Tweed deal, here is a modern one!
For those who don’t know about it, we had our state police headquarters on the campus of MSU. MSU charges us one dollar a year to lease the property and the state does the upkeep on it and pays all the utilities. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE THE ‘40S.
Now all of a sudden there is a deal that the governor made to have one of her friends to build a new headquarters and lease it back to the state for $116m with the option to buy and no one has thought of the utilities or up keep cost the state will be charged which may amount to another $50M over the life of the lease not to mention the cost of moving which I understand is around $7M to $15M.
The governor says that MSU is demanding their property back, even though they happily renewed the lease 6 months before this deal was made. MSU says that they never even talked to the governor’s office about the property and they would prefer keeping the state police there instead of having an empty building. The developer is so arrogant that he says so what, I am building it and you are paying for it. And others like our great AG, secretary of state (who laughed at the question why she didn’t enforce the laws and executive order preventing no-bid deals from being made) and legislators are not dealing with this issue at all and ignore the people.
But see this is not the only thing that is a problem. When the 2006 election was over with and there were democrats who lost their bids for office, she created jobs for them at a time when the state was really struggling to make payments to vendors – they get a $125K job with all the benefits. And we must not forget that she also has given her husband a staff, (a fulltime taxpayer staff!) for his use and transportation with state police escorts.
And one last thing to remember, this is not just a governor issue but a problem with both the executive and legislative branches. We seriously need to have a part time legislator; we don’t have that many issues to face to have a full time legislator in this state.
I think a recall of our governor would be the best solution for this state to get people to look at our state again and get some jobs in this state!
Oh one last thing if you made it this far, the shut down was not supposed to affect the state police, I think there are some rules that govern the process. Well she has decided to shut down a lot of the state police to make sure she gets her message across. I find it disgusting that the casinos are open by court order in a city that should not have the (they have 800K people now and the law says they have to have a million) but we can’t have the court tell the state that the MSP has to be functioning because that is in state policy. This is all to point the finger at the republicans in the house.
