Mascots and offending people

I read a quick article about the Cleveland Indians and how some are demanding that they change their name and remove all references to American Indians.

I am not one who wants to offend people but I side with the group who says that naming a school, sports team or even a stadium is a way of honoring them and opening the door to better understanding of them instead of shoving them into the history books or off the face of society. This goes beyond American Indians and includes groups fighting to have schools named after Jefferson, Washington and other founding fathers who are slave holders to be renamed because of the offending some one or another.

Will we worry about offending people when the tv show "Jericho" comes true or we are invaded from mexico by Islamic fascist because we were afraid to "offend" them by profiling and tracking there activities and movements.
