Making extra cash this week

I did this Last year and am going to do it again this year. But the window of opportunity is very short.

Here is what I will do.

10 am Thursday arrive in Evansville Indiana at the Best Buy store pitch my tent out side the front doors. Wait till 4 am for the geek squad to come and pass out the Black Friday door special tickets.
you will find all Best Buy deals here http://www.bestbuy.com/thanksgiving2jt

all the laptops will bring a profit on ebay of 200-400 each.

I will also pickup a few of the g p s units that I can peddle over the cb radio to other drivers.

your only allowed 1 ticket per item per person so take a friend, spouse or an older child with you so you can get more than 1 of each.

here is an example of an ebay auction already in progress ( Item number: 170171670448 ).

Last Year I was number 7 in line and was able to get anything I wanted.

around 2 am last year a guy came in and was offering 500.00 for anyones spot in line as he wanted one of the large tv deals. by 2 am there was a minimum of 200 people in line.

my plan is to purchase approx. 2500.00 worth of laptops for a profit of around 2400.00 give or take a 100.00

Guess expedite is slower than I previously thought...
Fortunate for you not that slow for me so if you happen across one of the top of the line Garmin like the nuvi 680 I will gladly part with 4fiddy to make purchase of said Garmin.
All joking aside I have been to BB on black Fri 5am and I really get a kick outta you guys especially after number 50 has entered the building and then you are on national news for being insane...
Not my cup of tea as I try to be a patient man but find myself lacking same in the mine atmosphere.

I think this is sad. It would be nice for those that can't normally afford these items to have Black Friday sales to buy electronics. You are like all the other individuals that ruin good things for the majority.

I agree with ovm. plain and simple!!! AHHHH AMERICA!!! buckeye laptops go on sale after x-mas just wait until then, you can also pick 1 up, and usually a good one at that on e-bay because there owners just paid all that money for the lastest and greatest one.

Nope everytime the tv crews showed up I scooted to the van.

But I did end up with 11 laptops 7 tomtoms 2 kodak cameras and a hitachi dvd camcorder.

then went to wal-mart and bought up the 40 year hot wheel car set.

and now I'm running up and down the highways with no time to sell them.

Ticket scalping comes to mind.

Hope you get a chance to sell them! Wouldn't want you to get stuck with all that stuff.

That's absolute nonsense.

Ticket scalping is illegal.

This person simply purchased black-friday products at huge discounted prices. He will then put them on e-bay and most likely will receive near retail price on those goods. That is totally legal.

I'm all for making money whenever possible but I would like to see these stores set a limit of one or at most two of any given item per customer. A lot of items are things people want to get for someone's gift and could really use the savings provided but if unable to camp out and horde they can't get them. The stores could generate the same amount of cash flow, if not in that single day at least by having a 2 or 3 day sale. It's just one more example of how Christmas has been bastardized and ruined.

i tried it at wall-mart a couple years ago, laptops for 399.00 there was a thousand people fighting over 13 laptops available..what a waste of my time.....however it seems it was worth the wait at best buy, congrats on your innovative ways of making a legal dollar.

Ticket scalping is illegal.

In some places it is perfectly legal - just look at the Hanna Montana scam that Disney and Cyrus have been pulling off with the concerts. I think paying $2500 a ticket and being 'sold out' minutes after tickets go on sale is too much to see a brat act like a junior Britney on stage.

As for the idea of picking up extra money, sorry but fighting a mob with a mob mentality to make a few hundred dollars seems to be a little over the top. To me there are a lot of better ways to make money and to act sane.

Since you felt compelled to put on your $800.00 suit and once again dazzle us with your supreme knowledge on virtually every subject.......

To even suggest Disney & Cyrus conspired to generate the inflated price gouging is pathetic. It's simply a case of teenage supply and demand. Teenies want the tickets and parents who'll do anything to insure their precious one's are there to witness the event. THAT SIMPLE

Then to compare Miss Cyrus to Miss Spears ? You'll not encounter ONE piece of documentation that would support your comparison. You're so far off base on that comment that it truly baffles me how someone with such :)intellect:) could spew that kinda BS.

No,not everyone and I never intended it to be taken that way. And to reference one's post count versus the times they've responded is probably an incorrect way to judge someone. 4357 posts versus my paltry 5 ?
But my response has no validity cause I have only 5 ? Hmmmmm

You know you can be a little less defensive on the issue; it is not your kid or your company I am talking about.

I am not trying to dazzle anyone with my knowledge but pointing out facts.

First thing is Disney has not been the soft and cuddly company that many have portrayed it as for a long long time. Just under Eisner, there were a lot of things they did that was ruthless and rather corporate to people and smaller companies.

IT IS NOT ABOUT THE KIDS WITH DISNEY, IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY

Sorry you Mickey and Donald fans but it is a business and one that is very serious about make a buck. I could point to a lot of examples but one stick’s in my mind, going after Day Care centers. In the 80’s and early 90’s they chased down groups who ‘infringed’ on their copyrights with lawsuits – which resulted in closing down a bunch of day cares and one was a day care for Autistic and severely handicapped kids that was next door to one of my buildings in Detroit. See this place painted Mickey and Donald on the side of your building for the kids to enjoy where no one can really see it from the road and one day Disney comes in and demands $30K for the use of their product and removal of the ‘illegal sign’ – sure kid friendly there. The day care could not afford to stay open because Disney refused to let up on getting the $30K bill which by the way they got $15K. If you don’t believe me, you do the research on Findlaw, it should be there if they have cases from Michigan going back that far, I watched them at work so I don’t have to prove to myself how greedy they are you need to open your eyes.

Second is the ticket issue, the hype of the ticket sales is to generate more of an interest in the product, in this case Hanna Montana. They purposely setup the sales to sell out quickly by using the give aways’ to groups in mass. Don’t believe me? Do a search on how many complaints have been filed with different state’s AGs on this issue. Many people who stood in line for hours were not sold tickets but radio stations, venue operators and even Disney themselves got a lot of tickets in their hands and they have been selling them at a very high price – no supply and demand cr*p here, it looks like a conspiracy to manipulate the market for profit which the last time I checked was against the RICO statute among a lot of different states laws.

Should I hand hold you in explaining how ticket master and other outlets actually mess with the timing of tickets sales with advertising gimmicks and promotions to ensure the maximum sales and revenue generated? It is all about business, not the performance.

Yes I compare ‘miss’ Cyrus to Spears, any parent to exploit their kids like this is disgusting to me and the similarities are too close to ignore. Sorry even if you are a parent, you have no clue what these kids go through and even later in life they can be so messed up if they are not taught what to do or how to handle real life. May not be the true case with Billy Ray but time will only tell. History has proved this time and time again what happens to many of them, so why should I support the exploiting of a kid for profit by buying into the Disney BS?

AND there is a big connection here, Disney gave both of them a venue to work in, spears had the Disney training like Cyrus has so don’t judge me for pointing out the connection. And if you don’t think Disney didn’t have a hand in Cyrus’s training, go work at Disney for a while and see what they demand of anyone who works at that level.

So don’t be defensive of someone you don’t know or a company you have no clue about – go learn about Disney.

The reason I brought up ticket scalping is not because of the illegality of it. The appearance of what many do on black Friday is a lot like scalping.

Both buy limited quantities of highly desired items, to sell them at a profit. Doesn't usually go over the retail price for the shoppers, but the PS2 a couple years ago comes to mind. Legal or illegal, it all boils down to greed.

Maybe the stores should just sell at the lowest price possible all the time not just one day a year or better yet maybe the mfg should just bypass the store who is the real greedy one and sell direct to the public.
If trying to put 5 teenagers in shoes on a expediters living and put money away for their college is greed then so be it.

If our Government wouldn't have sent mine and my wifes job of 14 years to Mexico wouldn't be a need to hustle items on ebay or up and down the street.

Ticket scalping in Indiana is legal except for ncaa tickets
