KW T300 Interior Removal

Since I have a seat to install and also need to run coax for the CB (never equipped with one) I was thinking that since the drivers seat and headliner need removing anyway - I might remove the other seat, interior panels and floor mat and line the roof, walls, floor and door skins with Dynamat to quiet things down some - it makes less noise than the M2 did (WAY less wind noise) but there's still plenty of room for improvement in noise level. So is doing this a big pain in the butte or not too bad. Passenger seat is the rigid type with a compartment underneath. From what I can see what needs removing (other than seats) are

A-pillar covers
Int. sun visors & clips over the doors
Two speakers
two plastic clips in the headliner
seat belts
dome light
throttle & brake pedals
Shifter (or maybe just the boot)
Doors panels - could be done later.

It doesn't look too bad - am I missing something or should this go pretty smoothly. Needs to be done or almost done in a weekend.

By deafening him with the explosion?
Seriously, let us know how it goes, please - I'd like to remove & replace the carpet in the one I drive, if it's not a horrendous chore.

In a previous truck ( 9400I International ) I removed the interior panels and insulated it with 1/2 inch aluminum backed rigid foam insulated sheets I used the 3M spray adhesive to apply to walls, all available at Home Depot. This reduced noise considerably, So much so I used 1 1/2 sheets and did the cab/sleeper floor from the bottom with the aluminum facing the ground. between the two instalations the difference in noise and and cab comfort was unbelievable. I looked at the dynamat and their competitors but for the money (total cost was about $125.00) I was very pleased with the results of rigid foam sheets. I thought I might use the Dynamat to line the area around the transmission but never got around to it.

You may need a special tool to remove the clips that holds the KW upoulstry, the Farmall just used screws nothing fancy but it didn't rattel

Good luck it was well worth my time to do this

I did similar to Refer Hauler, only I used 1" foam in our toy truck (Sprinter) I also used Great Stuff expanding foam to fill around the edges of the foam sheets. which helped to "lock" them in place. Made a huge difference in heating/cooling and noise. Well worth the effort and really, a very minimal expense.

I may do both - I've seen on some of the car overhaulin type shows they installed Dynamat on the inside of the door skins then tapped on the outiside of one with and one without - the one with sounds solid while the other has a hollow tinny sound.

On a side note I just installed a Panasonic CD player in place of the old (also Panasonic) factory am/fm/cassette head (hard to believe you could still get one in 2003) and the difference is quite noticeable. Its 4X50W's and has rca outputs for some rear speaker if you have or want to install some and an mp3 front input - KW dealer had them on sale for $109 - be forewarned though, T300's have a different plug than other KW's.
