Where did he get voted down? The Gitmo thing is something that they want to cover their a** with by putting a plan in place and making sure that they can hold others accountable when something happens to the American people.
I do see a vast change in our country, I see it going down the path of other countries, like Europe and they have seen the light - so to speak. Where we used to lead, we are following, we are 30 years behind in our thinking and our politics and need to return to what we have 45 years ago.
As for Cheri's comments, I understand where she is coming from but passion for the country overshadows the people in it and the respect for the people - we are a country of laws, not Idols. We should respect the office, but not the person, we can and should question motives, especially hidden ones and demand accountability and we should see that disclosure of the person, which we didn't with this person in office. For the past 8 and a half years I have listen to the most vial, hate filled rhetoric in my life about a president who was not perfect but better than the people he ran against. During that time, we have seen an open transformation of our media and more and more people questioning the journalistic ethics of people who have filled the media with hate for that president. We have had a culture war going on since the 70's and I truly feel that Obama will bring that to an end faster because when people who support him start to understand what is really going on, they will feel lied to and begin to doubt themselves.
I talked to a UAW worker today, she is being laid off from GM. She voted for Obama, not because of his policies but because the UAW told her to. She is now stuck without a job soon, but still does not get how his demands on GM has caused her to lose the only job she has had, she does blame Bush for the CAFE standards being raised. The unfortunate thing is he will be getting twice as much as buy out as I did when I left the Pharma company, and new car to boot - all undeserving and all paid for by you and I - the tax payer.
