I was very surprised to find that the AP (Appalachian Trail) is just north of the Flying J in Carlyle PA. You can step out to the road and see the overpass and there is a small trail up to the main trail. I thought that was pretty awesome!

It is as very pretty stretch of the trail that runs through PA. Part of the North Country Trail, that might be the name, runs through parts of PA as well. It passes through Moraine State Park, which is just north of Butler. Layoutshooter

A nice hike in the woods in upper Michigan, is the 4 mile trail that goes between the Lower and Upper Tahquamenon Falls in the state park. It is rather steep in places and you definitely need good hiking footwear and water to drink along the way but it's a fun hike and the falls are beautiful.

I have posted a link below with information on the North Country Hiking Trail. We all pass areas that have segments on a regular basis. This might help you hikers find a trail head to gain access. Layoutshooter
