Isuzu Commercial Trucks

Hello to All. Have been lurking here as a visitor for a few days, and had some questions on Isuzu Trucks.

NPR HD NQR NRR

5.2L Diesel Engine

Anyone driving any of these three?

How comfortable is the seating over time?

Empty/Loaded fuel milage?

Maintenance Problems? (Engine/Drivetrain/Acc's)

Also the same set of questions on the FTR.

7.8L

Down to page 25 on both "Truck Talk" and "The Newbie Forum". As usual I found information I was not aware of.

Thanks,

I don't know exactly how you are planning on using the truck, but UD has a 3300DH model you might think about looking into. I'm not sure if UD and Isuzu are the same or not, but I know they are both the cabover type trucks. The DH stands for dock high. The salesman at Glovers in Little Rock told me a couple of years ago the I could order either a cab and chassis or he could have it delivered to the dealership with my choice of sleeper and box. I saw a guy a couple years ago running one for FedEx Custom Critical.

On the seat situation I was thinking you could remove the bench type seat that come in it and install two air ride seats. If you didn't plan on carrying a passenger you could keep the passenger side open and set up a little office over there. The only thing that would keep me from doing that would be the couple weeks a year the wife would ride along.

I thought it was a good idea, but never got it off the ground.

Thanks Mr. Hodges,

Yesterday I made a trip up to the Isuzu dealer. And no way I would use the NPP or NRR. Great little city trucks probably. But just can not see me in one long term.

There had been two on the lot in Shreveport with a really good price, which had perked my interest. Guess they were snapped up.

I can't see any of those trucks holding up to expediter usage. Even the class 7 trucks from Sterling etc. are debateable. I'll never go with anything other than a class 8 again. It costs more but the lifespan is far far greater.

Leo,
there are a couple in the FedEx fleet, one of them claims 14 mpg and this is their second one. I think it has to do with attitude more than any thing else.

Ya but I'll be he was either empty or running light - I'd say most of those trucks don't get loaded all that much, the most you can get in them is about 330hp and from what I've seen they just don't hold up and the resale on them stinks. My M2/3126 will do "ok" on a hill if I can get a run at it and traffic doesn't force me to lift, if that happens it falls on its face. Any more than a couple years off new and they seem about done, I see them daily and only the newer ones look decent, the rest are all bent, broken and have stuff either hanging off them or are covered in tape and bungies to keep stuff in place - that glass below the window line seems a frequent flyer - that is frequently flown the coop, must be expensive to replace as most tape them up. Frames seem very light with LOTS of holes drilled in them, lots of plastic parts hanging all over just looking for something to catch on. I saw one of those UD's a month or so ago and it didn't look much different durability wise.
