It is a simple question to which there is, so far, no definitive answer. Therefore, any debate on religion will, by definition, be open ended, except to agree to disagree.
The site you cite explains atheism far better than I can - thanks for including it.

I find it rather the same old, same old. Questioning the story itself cheapens the message, it is not about what happened as passed down for centuries but rather the msesage of the bigger picture.

The idea as put forth on the site that God is compassionate and all forgiving, well I don't think so and that idea has only been entrenched in religion since the 1820's.

There was a time when God was feared, when the idea of distruction and death by God was accepted.

We now live in a world that we HAVE to question everything, when we have to know without mysteries or ambiguiety, where we have the 'right' to know.

I find it rather odd that this story, Noah is in three major religions.
