In WW2, I think is was the Chicago Sun that wanted to publish some thing beyond the censors would allow. FDR said "go ahead but we will shut down the paper"
At that time it was the right thing to do and now it still is the right thing to do. Many, including the journalist in this country seem to think that we are dealing with the stereotypical sh*t kickn' goat farming idiots with rags on their heads but it isn't close to being the truth. Mind you the leadership and the support groups of some of these terrorist organizations are highly educated, may be the floor sweeper at Al Qiada internation is better educated and equipped for real life issues than most of the public educated kids who graduated in the last 15 years.
So because of this attitude, we don't think twice about holding the journalist to any standards and because they have twisted the first amendment all aruond to make them above the common citizen, they feel it is their right to be unethicial.
What happened to ethics in journalism?
It vanished when everyone from Cronkite to Cooper decided that ratings and money was more important than the truth and doing the right thing for the country that affords you the right to make a living being a journalist.
